Billet Swim platform

Can anyone with a billet swim platform please get me a measurement from the center of the transom, to the length aft of the boat? (i.e. - what's the "length" or "depth" of the swim platform?)

Also, how/what are the black non-skid inserts made of? Rubber? Plastic? Aluminum?

Quinlan 02-16-2018 08:39 AM

When mine was redone Vincent sprayed a nonskid material in the paint or clear. Works really well.
My Outlaw had a rubber material in grooves that was starting to pull out after 10+ yrs

Appreciate the info;
Not referring to tubular platforms with non-skid, looking for info on the solid machined aluminum platforms. Starts with a solid plate of aluminum, and after a gazillion hours on the CNC you get the above pictured piece. I'm inquiring on the black inserts that facilitate grip.

Also, what's a typical measurement that the platform "hangs" off the back. Any Cig platform would be comparable, just need to get close.

There used to be a guy in Cleveland who made these, I picked a pair up years a go and took them to Tim 88-bullet on here on my to NY

Pretty sure they are sold by West Coast Offshore Unlimited Boat Billet Swim Platforms (westcoastoffshoreunlimited.com)

Look at their Offshore Custom Platform section and you'll see some of their other models. Need to give yourself like 4-5 month lead time. I turned my order in in November and just saw they ran deposit so must of started and should be shipped within a month or so I would think.

Solid billet aluminum swim platform? WOW....that doesn't sound cheap! Actually, it doesn't even sound expensive.....more like super expensive! but man that thing is beautiful! :hitit:

Ok does anyone have any idea on what the thickness is for the aluminum? I am pretty sure I found someone local to make this for me but I need to know the thickness they start with. I was thinking 1" but that seem a bit overkill?

On mine we started with 1.25

Do you have any pictures? Most on the sites are not that good. I thing I may just make it flat on top and then cover in seadeck or some thing like that.

I had my platform on my AT built with tabs so I can change the top out if I ever want a different design. I used a 1/4" sheet of aluminum and had my layout cut on a water jet, then had Sea Dek installed on it. Here's the best pic I could find at the moment. and just thought this might help you out. Also I used 1/4" stainless hardware recessed so the bolts are flush with the top plate.

I may just do something like that. Mine is the old tube style they added to the ends to make it fit since my boat is wider than most. Beam is 9'3 and transom is just over 8'0".

Thank you. That might be more of the route I go. We have taken a ton of weight out of the boat, especially the bow and I am concerned about balance a bit. The billet would be about 350 lbs before it gets cut and machined. So I would guess we would loose 100 lbs or so but that would still probable be over 100 lbs or more heavier than my current platform.

I really considered not putting one on it but I don't want people walking across my hatch and sunpad all the time. We are even toying with making some brackets so you can just take it off if we want with just some pins.

Ironmanwb,

Any decent fab shop should be able to build something along those lines. All aluminum construction, powder coated to match the boats primary trim colors, would be my suggestion. It will be plenty strong enough and fairly light weight.

Thanks. Brad.
