I thought cutting the strakes in the rear would get me more speed, instead it gave it a stupid porpoise that was only solved by putting the bottom back to original.
f***ing with the bottom didn`t work out for me, someone else take the torch and extend the strakes, I`m not messing with my bottom anymore.

after cutting strakes:

I don`t have many video from flat water but it seem to me the water breaks at the helm (about where the inner strakes end) so extending them makes sense.
This is stock factory bottom:

From my own experience with the boat that Phil and Cigarette messed with ('99 Gun, with notched strakes) it did nothing for speed or handling. That is, nothing bad and nothing good. I think it rides like any other straight bottom. Let me see if I can attach a pic...https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...736b164c42.jpg

Did they do anything to the inner strakes?

Good question - I don't think they cut the inners but honestly will have to look next time.

There are. I’ve read that guys have put temporary strakes on right over the gel to test.

Fwiw, there is a noticable difference in the amount of rocker on the cig compared to the scarab in addition to the strake difference.

My first trip to the Sunsation factory around '02 I saw this firsthand. Joe was walking us around and introduced us to Wayne who at the time was underneath I believe the single engine 32 F-1 boat. He had sections of wood strakes in his hand that he was either screwing or unscrewing from the bottom of the boat. I thought man that's crazy!

Just read this thread. Sounds interesting. Anybody know if the Cafe hull is a rocker hull or if lengthening the strake would/could be beneficial?

I added 73 1/2" (16"original taper down + 57 1/2" of newstrake) to my Panther. I have before and after videos somewhere. The additional strake picked my boat out of the water and gave it a floating feeling. Before it ran really wet. I gained a couple MPH and it really carried the bow well. I started with 8' white oak profiles. I screwed and glued the strakes to the bottom and went out and tested. I would put the boat back on the trailer and cut off 10" of strake and then go test. Repeated until I found what I thought was a good feeling and handling boat. I then glassed them onto the hull. I got the idea from Ben Perfected on here. He had done it to his Panther race boat. I couldn't go off his dimensions because he has a Bravo boat and mine is TRS. Different COG
