Who would’a Thunk? Top gun F2 boat cover fits like a glove on a cafe! :D

i just didn’t tuck the bow over the tow eye so it’s a bit wrinkly in the front. Otherwise. Perfect fit, like it was made for it.

Along the same lines, a 388 Slingshot full cover fits like a glove on a Cafe too!

I was expecting to have to have it trimmed and tailored to fit but I don't think so. I still need to pull it over the eyelet at the bow and pull it back all the way and see how it really fits but I don't think I'll have to mess with it at all.

I'm still here. Been boating a bit though. ;) :D

Went out last weekend. pretty bumpy, wind chop and about a 3.5 swell. but fun run. Saw John Teague who was out on his new to him Fountain. Saw a cool yellow Schiada and a *****en like 40's wooden boat with twin Johnsons on it. Oh, and this big'ol yachts been docked up in the harbor for the past two months. People use it quite a bit to go out to the islands and what not.

totally. At least it was only about 15 miles from home. I was having it towed to havasu so thank god it didn’t happen in the middle of the dessert. Taking it to the shop tomorrow and it all gone through.

Been there man and it sucks, 4 hr trip turned into 12, ruined the center axle and had to replace it, on the current trailer the spindles are replaceable ......:D

yea. I’ve lost a few bearings over the years. It’s such a PITA. I really dig the way your trailer is set up with the bolt on spindles.

thisistank 08-14-2019 11:36 AM

Back in biz. All new running gear.

Nice! Just did full service on my trailer. New tires, brakes, etc. Enjoy you new baby!

Sydwayz 08-15-2019 07:25 AM

Tank, invest in these for the tires, if stored outside:

I highly recommend them; have them on all of our trailers that see UV light from the sun.

how do you like those torsion axles, never had a trailer with those

I love mine on the Myco, rows great and not bouncy, also way quieter then leaf springs going down the road.

offshoredrillin 08-15-2019 11:14 AM

Torsion axles are great, just dont put LT tires on them, up grade to 14 ply tires and its night and day. soft sidewalls also put undo tension or the torsion axles while turning in a tight spot.

frickstyle 08-15-2019 11:33 AM

Only problem is if you toast a bearing and it damages the spindle, you end up replacing the whole axle, around $800-900 plus the lead time to replace the axle, disassemble and reassemble. The spindles are welded in, and they will not let you just replace a spindle assembly because of the rubber inside the torsion tube.

I would actually like to get away from mine and into a leaf sprung axle setup.

Full Force 08-15-2019 11:38 AM

My leaf spring trailers you could not. Replace just hub, had to buy whole axle too, guess it depends on the trailer

I have a Pacific step bottom trailer, I bought two of their spindle / hub kits for my spares and are replaceable

I've had both leaf spring and torsion style trailers. I was forced to replace the axle on my leaf spring trailer once when I destroyed the bearings/hubs/axle. I like the torsion, it works. I never really noticed an abundance of bounce with my leaf spring trailer. Really didn't notice the difference. Only real difference I notice on these trailers is flat bunks vs. tall bunks. The tall bunks allow the axles to be shorter and the wheels to tuck up under the boat. Nice to not have as wide of a trailer, but the wider trailers tow nicer and the flat bunks load better. It's a PITA to load on the narrow I-beam tall bunk trailers like South Florida (which I've had two of).

If you look close at the pic I posted of the bearing / wheel gone it looks like the nut is straight up rusted onto the spline and it looks like the spline is damaged from corrosion. I was prepared to replace the whole axle but luckily, when it was all taken apart and cleaned it was in very good shape. I lucked out.

That's some cheap piece of mind right there. Had the valve stems on our Top Gun trailer rot out from storing out doors. Those would resolve that. I found a set of 7 Alcoa aluminum trailer wheels for $700 on CL. I want to swoop them up and get rid of those cheesy chrome / rusted wheels.

I like these silver and grey kind of match the boat, and pretty inexpensive.

the 5 star that myco used to use was the best to me, they are inexpensive and my wheel guy can paint them because we all cut that one corner too tight and curb them...also make sure your center cap has drain holes...https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...3cd7b8b1a9.jpg

Well, that's going to cost you more $$ than staying in the presidential suite at the Pier House for a week!!!! LOL

Have fun man. Sucks we'll miss you again. Still planning a trip to south Florida with the whole family to see everyone out that way. Hopefully next year, maybe spring break.

Sydwayz 08-19-2019 12:30 PM

https://recstuff.com/trailer-wheels is where I buy trailer wheels.
Or shop there, and then buy elsewhere for a better price.

If anyone is going to replace 15" wheels, go ahead and make the jump to 16" wheels. You have a WEALTH of options on running WAY better tires on 16" wheels.

Thanks brotha! It's good to be back. How's life? How's the CC?? You know I was ready to pull the trigger on that when Sean had it. Such a cool boat.
