Brutal Day
Just sold the cafe. Very sad to see it go, has been such a wonderful boat with so many great times on it. One of my boys was 10 days old and one of them was 9 days old when they first went out on it so it's been a huge part of our life.
My wife is scrolling through pictures and we are realizing how many great times with so many great friends we had on that boat. Amazing how fast 13 Summers and 10,000 gallons can go by..... |
Sooner or later many will be in this same position......tough when it occurs, a boat is not just a floating thing with engines for many it is a destination for fond memories and enjoyment.
|
Pfffft, you're not suffering. You've got 42' of Cigaratte to cry over!! :D :D
|
Where'd it end up going? Hopefully to a good new home. Congrats on the sale! And like Brian said, not too sad for you since you're making new family memories on 8 more feet of boat. LOL
|
Guy out of Louisiana bought it. I'm hoping it's a good home....
Yes, the tiger will help me get over it but all the memories are on that boat!!! I was realizing as he was pulling away what a great size the Cafe is. |

Eric, I have the same sentiments over a couple of past boats but we can’t keep everything.
Hopefully the new owner will make similar memories with his family. |

I came upon this today on I-85 in the Carolinas. I could still see Eric’s tears coming off the bow. :D

That was so strange. A 1in a billion coincidence....
Just got a text from New owner - he made it safe and sound. Glad I put new tires, brakes, bearings, hubs and rotors on it!! |
Made it Home
Finally got enough sleep to get online (I wouldnt let her drive with the trailer). Eric thanks for being such a stand-up guy. Its great to be back in a Cig, (former Bullet owner) Going through all the paperwork, and VERY thankful for all the documentation that was done. Try to make it down to Louisiana (with or without the Tiger) for the Tickfaw 200, Ill keep you posted.

Tried to send a DM, but it was full. So far I have taken her out 3 times and have been fixing very minor things (loose electrical connections, etc.) It will be great to have a cabin interior again (hopefully this week?) I'm still getting to know the girl.It sucks about the Tickfaw 200, but there is always (I hope) next year! So far I have only put her in at Canal Bank Club, I am taking the 26 Pitch props off and going down to the 24's as I am learning the boat. Tiger Audio in Gonzales is putting the new Garmin in and hopefully the new stereo system the following week. Its hard to remember I do have to go to work and not only work on the Cig! Covid-19 isnt helping;its a great excuse!

I think you're going to find the boat is better ALL AROUND with the labbed 26's than those non-labbed 24's, but give them both a shot!!
Glad to see your using it some...... |

Rebuilding the dash pad
While I’m still shaking the cafe down, I’m replacing/rebuilding the dash pad the upholstery surround) the wood has given up the ghost after 30 years. I am thinking of planing 1/4 inch cypress and adding several coats of water seal &/or paint before I bring it to the upholsterer. This seemed like such a simple project.. I think Cig used marine plywood. I’ll start a thread once I can post pics
