endeavor... not judging in any ways, but i was always surprised, or intrigued, by the road you took to get to this 39... i read your post comparing differents boats you looked at, comparing to other boats you had. They are all quite big money boats, with quality and technology hulls, from your active thunder and so on... i just don't get why you, in all that boat road you went thru, at one point bought that project scarab!!! :) after a nice active thunder!
i know you sold the scarab, then bought that 39. what made you choose that scarab? not speed, not technology, not a light hull... I am just curious ! I just don't get it ! Enjoy your 39 anyways! :)

Hey Endevour, what's the story with your boat for sale sans power and drives?!
Used 2005 Cigarette Top Gun 39 Unlimited, 60002 Antioch - Boat Trader Wish I was in a position to buy it. I'd love to have one. |
A little much for no drives or engines but I really like CS . I have drives and power for this boat but needs to be closer to $80k .
Lets see how long it sits, they dropped it to $149k recently |
Judging from the pix it looks like she's been uncovered and sitting for a little while.

Too bad. One of the sharpest 39s out there imo. What happened to the evolution trailer?
|
Mike sold for $210K with power and drives.
Guy jacked the engines and drives and swaped trailer and wants $150k Seems like a good deal. For him!:lolhit: |
Buyer Beware!!!
Let me start this by saying I don't know everything but I am very resourceful. I spoke with cigarette great customer service and I'm not a customer yet. I spoke with 2 previous owners. I was very lucky that my brother just moved from Italy and speaks Italian well. We were able track down the owner when the boat was in Italy. The seller and I agreed on 120k before I had survey done. I got the results from the survey and was iffy. I grew up in the area and have friends and family to visit so I figured what the hell road trip. I took $100K in cash and a cashiers check for 20K made payable to cash. There is no less than 30 dock dings on starboard side alone. most all the way through about the size of thumb nail. I didn't count the port side. Seller and I agreed at minimum 15k for interior and we disagree on paint i say no less than 18K Seller says $7500. Plus 5-8k misc. plus the JL audio is junk in that boat. I took a shot and low balled my offer at 85k in cash. I might have pissed him off no biggie. I made a few calls and was advised all the money was 100K if i really wanted it so that's what i offered. he was willing to accept $110K. This vessel is not as described. I am gonna post some high lights and low lights from the survey. I don't have social media so please if you see the boat online please share thread. At the end of the day, I kept my cash and I was a serious buyer @ 100K. I hope someone buys it and saves it. the center steer is cool but it does hurt the value not sure if he's aware of that or not or if he's just trying to capitalize on a crazy market. I have pics. but because i am new to OSO i cant post them.
These results are from a surveyor. Here are the findings and recommendations from your “Structural Survey” for the 2005 Cigarette Top Gun with HIN: CRTUSU051405 4. A repaired area on the starboard hull midship has elevated moisture readings, 50%. This should be inspected further. 5. Elevated to wet moisture noted around the transom drain plug, 100%. 6. Elevated readings only noted around the centerline aft stringer towards the lowest section, 30%. 7. Misc areas of headliner material are sagging or have been reattached. 9. Elevated moisture noted around the thru hulls, starboard side midship 11. Stains noted on the cockpit deck. Appears to be an oil leak from under the helm. 13. Multiple scuffs and nicks on the vessels hull. Some of the chips do go into the FRP 15. Most of the trailer bunks are missing hardware. The Overall Vessel Rating and Condition: “Average”. |
Well that`s good info.
I thought $80k before all that mess. Your offer is more than fair, if they didn`t take it thats dumb, they had a guy with cash in hand ..... going to sit on that boat for a long time unless someone doesn`t do a survey. On another note How do you get 30 + dock rash dings? These people not use fenders ? I have 0 on my boat . Theres always at minimum 3 fenders out back mid and front , one person on bow another on stern making sure we do not hit anything ever. |

I told myself I was not even going to get involved with this thread but here I am. After this I am out. I should not even be in this situation because someone is pissed I did not take their offer, this makes no sense who does this? Lets start with this mouth claims it is not as described beware! Here is the listing. 2005 Cigarette Top Gun · Driven NaN miles 2005 Top Gun Unlimited Center Steer 2006 Myco trailer new tires, bearings and brakes. NO ENGINES OR DRIVES ITS transom assemblies for bravo drives attached Comes with: Engine mounts Driveshafts Exhaust manifolds Exhaust tails New cockpit cover New fusion stereo head unit JL audio speakers Everything will be in boat to install your engines and drives. Titles for both boat and trailer are in hand Thank you Anyways here it goes. I am not going to ramble on and bash the character of Mouth (perfect name for him) here as much as I want to I am going to deal with his less then truthful post. Seeing how he felt it so important to get on OSO and save the world from buying this 39 Gun simply because I would not take his offer. I bet you this, if he would have paid the 110 and took it home, he would be on here boosting about his beautiful 39 gun he got and he would let you all know how excited he is to be part of the Cig family! FYI this is not the first go with this guy, the first week I listed he offered me $140K then backed out, I lower price he comes back offers $120K at this time my gut told me he was going to be a pain in the ass and I should not even deal with him but I did and here we are. He gets his survey done he is told boat is sound drives out here and he seems happy to becoming out says nothing about the new price he wanted to pay, mind you he was willing to pay $140K just two weeks before, he makes zero sense. Well, he was not at my shop 5 minutes and I knew where this going, he had no intention of giving me $120,000.00 he did however waste weeks of my time. I blame myself for dealing with this guy. The surveyor....... Let me start with this the guy he hired to do this survey is known for being very strict with boats he is not very well-liked by any marinas in the area, (not sure they like any surveyor) but this one is a particular pain in the ass, in fact he is not even allowed to do survey’s at least two Marinas I know of. So, this surveyor who is disliked by Marinas did tell Mouth the boat is absolutely structurally sound. Please read Mouths last sentence boat is in average condition not bad from such a strict surveyor! Mouth wanted a Mint 39 gun for a 100K with no work needed minus drives and engines, that will never happen. There is not 30 knicks on the starboard side of this boat that is just a complete lie. Anyone feel free to drive to Antioch to see for yourself. this boat has not seen the water since Mike owned it only been in storage. I have to laugh at the missing hardware comment on the trailer, what is missing? Some nuts off the the carriage bolts holding the bunks on already spent the $5.00 at ace on these nuts. As far as the "high" moisture readings it did rain the day before he came there was actually water still dripping out of the drain plug right where the center most lower stringer is. Nothing wrong with this hull at all. This post by Mouth is just wrong period. This is not my first go at this, I am a Cig lover rehabbed enough of them to tell you I do know just a tad about this world and I would not have bought this boat if it was a bad as Mouth makes it sound. I was actually going to put #6 drives on this thing, I have two sets in my shop, this was until I bought the triple 600 05 gun in Lake Havasu the blue and white one. I will be converting to twins with #6 drives and a complete rehab stayed tuned. I did take a deposit on the boat today from a really nice guy who is putting Arneson’s on it with some big fresh power going to be fun build for the guy and he plans on getting in the water this year believe it or not. Oh by the way I did tell the new buyer to feel free to get a hold of the surveyor Mouth hired if he so desires to get a copy. I also told him about Mouth's post on OSO told him feel free to read it. Thank you! |
There`s always 2 sides to every story , thanx for telling yours.
btw, Ive been boating on the chain last few weekends. Wouldn`t take the cig there but the Yamaha is prefect . |
So what happened to Endeavour32 and this boat?
He was prop testing and all that, seemed enthused about it. He move on to something else? Why? |
I had to block the the seller because of his messages to me. I don't think sellers like surveyors no matter what. the boat looks great from 50 but i give you my word a at least 30 spots on starboard side. as soon as i get to 10 posts ill post pics of the text, email exchange, close ups of the pics of the boat. My offer of 100k was in cash and a strong offer. In the end it wasn't a waste of a trip for me. i got to see family and friends and eat well

Subject: Re: mouth900rr has sent a question about item #225087449742, ending on Jul-30-22 17:28:10 PDT - Cigarette 39 Top Gun Unlimeted
Lol just stop you are not getting this boat for 85k I am very aware of what this boat needs, it’s okay if this is to much boat for you, wasting my time like you did is wrong. You are very naive if you thought you were going to get a mint condition 39 Unlimited hull without power for even remotely close to a 100k. Think about what you are saying for a sec and realize the hull you are referring to it is a Cigarette 39 Unlimited this is not a scarab hull. Huge difference no one looks twice at a scarab unless they know nothing about boats at all, you what they do stare at Cigarettes the one and only. Your list below is piddly **** lights and trailer hardware who cares. The trailer is fine and will get home just fine. As far as interior it is an 05 what did you expect? To top it off you had a survey you knew the condition of the interior before you came here you have wasted weeks of my time! I had a guy here with 114,000 done deal and I waited for you, you ****ed me now you have the balls to offer 85K thru EBay! Who does that? My gut told me you would do this and I did not listen to it. You went around and called a bunch of people in Antioch to check on my character that is funny ****, you just strung me along and wasted my time I guess I should have asked about your character to these people. You do realize you said many things that make me realize you do not know a lot about what you are looking at or offshore boats in general. Also stop even trying to compare a 39 to a 38 do your homework on what you are looking at. I do not believe you had any intention of following thru with your offer of 120. I’ll be sure to go to Ace and spend the 5.00 on the nuts for the bunks. Speakers are fine. I will make sure and also spend the extra 100.00 to replace those lenses that prompted the 85k offer Next time I will go with my gut I knew I was right about how this would end with you This boat is a bargain at 120 bro, one together for 250 most likely also needs 20-30 K worth of work. So far you made two offers and backed out of both. Look at the bright side you will save gas money on your way home. |
Yikes that’s rough
|
For what it's worth there's a pretty nice center steer 39 in Italy with Power and drives for 180k. Seems like a nice boat.
Correction, it's in England. |
|
this boat was in italy.

Yes, I know. There's another in England actually right now that is complete and appears fairly nice. for 180k. Most went over seas since the center steer wasn't as appreciated in the states when they were debuted. |
send me the link please

Hey Tank, let`s do a road trip!
That silver one over there is pretty freakin' nice and a very nice price in this market. |
That thing looks rough.

Anyone ever buy this thing and put it back together?
|
I saw that someone bought my old boat and installed a set of 1000 hp engines in it and also installed some Arneson ASD-7 drives. My guess is the boat would not get on plane as the Arnesons would have be mounted way to high due to the large notch in the transom. If he can get the drives lower, I'm sure it will be a great set up, but it will take a lot of work, lower engines, glass and recut transom and my guess is, fill in the notch. I know there is another 39 with ASD 7s, but I don't know if they had to fill the notch or not.
Someone asked why I sold the boat. Honestly I was just over it. It is an awesome boat, but it needed $10k in paint work, as shown in the pictures and a few other cosmetic things. Plus I kept the boat in Northern Michigan and live in Chicago. I just didn't use it enough. When I sold it, it was mechanically perfect with fresh engines, and new SCX drives. The previous owner (Italian guy) really didn't take care of the boat at all, and a lot of lying on what was done. I seriously doubt he know anything about it, other than how to turn the key. Either way, structurally it is a great boat. I do agree with Dan, how people get all these chips in their paint is beyond me. Hopefully the new owner, posts some pictures and reports how the new set up is working. |

That makes sense that he had to add the wedges to lower the boxes. I didn't think they would work in the standard location!
