Someone's Converting Tiger to Outboards??
Anyone know the story? I know there's the one in Bahamas but outboards on a Tiger? I'd like to see the project though. :D

My 2 cents
Pardon my saying so, but that is criminal in my humble opinion. The whole fun of the Cigarette boats are the old school engines.

I actually agree. But I'd still like to see the project and how it comes out and hear how it runs with what power, etc. |
Same here interested to see how it goes. I wonder what the benefits are too as I understand the outboard engines can cost $45,000 a piece vs maybe $50K to $60K for the inboard engines. Considering everyone seems to put 4-5 engines on a boat that’s a lot of money vs the old school way. I guess the long term benefits are less gas? And less maintenance? I’m not sure.

my next boat gets outboards. no questions. not dealing with this engine bay crap any more. way more room, more storage, more efficiency, more maneuverability. more serviceability. I'm too old for this crap.

first off, its todd cimino, the idiot that ran hawk marine/engines into the ground... i tend to think its going to project purgatory.... he bought the tiger that the other french canadian thief on here used to own...

I'm kind of sorry to see when these things are converted. They lose a certain nostalgia and there are just fewer and fewer IO go-fast boats being made.

I understand, but wouldn’t it make sense to go the center console route. A boat specifically made for outboards. Hell you could even put a SeaKeeper on it and everything, but to do that to a regular Cigarette boat. I would just sell it first and buy a new boat if that were the way I wanted to go.
The go-fast's look better, sleeker, and I love a big sundeck... but boat engines are a hassle enough without adding a bilge in the mix. and the cargo room you gain is amazing... |
