Any flat bottom TG’s becoming avail or thinking of selling? Looking to spend around $75k TIA

Facebook
I saw two like that listed on Facebook. Even though I hate Facebook, I’ve started using for the Cigarette Owners groups and the boat listings. One was in NH I think and one was in CT. There was also a trailer for a TG for sale in a third listing. I’m not sure how to post here. PM me if you need help finding them. Neither of them are mine and I have nothing to do with them.

https://www.yachtworld.com/boats/199...un-38-3854393/ My buddy was looking at it and I called the broker, but the broker cant come up with any documentation on the engine rebuilds. The owner is having a fire sale because of getting divorced and his wife found out about the boat. he supposedly bought it a year ago and hid it from his wife, her attorney found out about it and now its part of the estate. |
I see it has the new Mercury 8.1 502's in it.............:lolhit:.....................that boat wont do 95 on a trailer down hill with a tail wind
|
Saw that boat at marina bay in Quincy last year, it needs some tlc, the current owner literally knew nothing about it.
|
They’re all for sale lol. A $75k budget may put in an older or more of a project boat in this market though. I have more than that in mine and I bought it before boat prices went crazy. Do you have any specific requirements or just any straight bottom gun?

I have aftermarket blowers. My suggestion is check insurance before you buy a boat with blowers.

when I saw it the drives didn’t match (swept back vs non swept back), paint needed a lot of attention, corrosion on transom assemblies. from pictures the interior needs to be replaced… In this market it’s priced at 64k for a reason |
If you spend 60-75,000 your gonna get a boat that needs tlc and most likely no engine documentation, that being said I know guys who get newer and engine documents for 100,000 and still don't get a good boat, it's tough to find a taken care of boat at any price these days.
for that price you're going to have something in the 1980's unless you get real lucky, hell i turned down more then 75 for mine this year as I could never replace what I got... |

I’ve found a couple of mid 90’s TG’s for $80-$85k but with the season coming to an end I don’t mind spending sometime updating the cockpit etc. or giving it a little tlc to make it my own. So I figured I’d hunt around first and see if anything else is out there
|
I would sell ours for the right price. 94 top gun 500efis with bravo xr’s.

I know $75k will be far and few. I’d like to be no older than 90’s if possible. I’ve found a couple just not sure if I want blowers. Part of me does but the part of me is thinking headache.

I’ve considered listing mine also. Problem is replacing it in this market or you’d just have to sit out for a while. I also spent a couple years looking for this boat. It would take at least 6 figures so I would probably be keeping it anyway lol. |

I’d venture to guess that boat values are up 25-35% depending on boat and hardware…
few years ago 80-90’s flat bottoms were fetching 45-65k…now they are fetching 70-85k. If not more. |
Part of it could be the money it costs to maintain them now. I have high standards for my boat and probably have more in it than I could sell it for. Even at today’s prices. Still have a few more projects to knock out once funds allow also. That being said it is hard to find a truly clean straight bottom these days.

It's a sellers market right now for sure. |
Most hobbies involving engines have peaks and valleys, it is based on supply and demand. Right now the demand is up for motorsports new or used. I am sure most Cigarette owners will agree we spend thousands of dollars maintaining and bettering our boats.
“Yes I could probably get more than I "paid" for it in 08 But what about the other 200K I have spent on it since owning it “ This statement is true, but having the love hate relationship we do with them makes it a hobby and not a business. At least it makes you feel better to know you have something someone else wants and is willing to pay top dollar for. 😁 |

yeah i was interested in the boat as well but it was a little more work then i was looking for at the time. If its still there in a month i might take the drive to look at it
|
I went and looked the yellow and green tg in ct, the boat is real rough a project boat, stringers and transom are rotted right to the back seat so I would assume all the way up. deck needs paint, cabin is wet and moldy also in poor shape. Owner had no service records for motors,
broken skeg on one drive other just worn down looking. So far every top gun I Looked at under 80 was junk, not sure if it was just bad luck or just a tuff price range and I just need to spend a little more. |

Don’t you find it strange that he has a survey that states it’s in above average condition? I also looked at that one and was literally there for 7 mins and left. That is a complete resto project |
No because he paid for the survey, you either have to have your own survey done which could still be bad, or look at it yourself if you feel comfortable doing that. I bought a moisture meter and I use a small hammer gently tapping the hull you can hear the tone change when you hit a soft spot good luck with your search.

Anyone talk to Tony about the 1995 he has listed? Looks clean. $89,000.
