Love the old mistresses!

Very nice. I like to see slight updates to the classic look. I like your placement of the Sea Deck on the hatches, nice touch to clean up the look. Looks great.

ICDEDPPL 09-08-2023 11:39 AM

Love the side logo :ernaehrung004:

You may end up hating that light gray Seadik.
I was always cleaning mine, hard to get clean, hard to keep clean, I hated every minute of it.
Next boat I went with dark charcoal and its 10000% better to keep clean and you cant see every foot print.

scippy 09-08-2023 12:10 PM

What year is your mistress,,,,,? mines is a '82 I converted to a single engine hatch

We have about the same grey in our Malibu and your right about keeping it clean.... Good thing my wife love to keep our boats spotless!

Good info as I was ready to do the light grey or light wood color down here in Florida because of the heat factor. Can they be pretreated with a silicone or protective coating to keep the light colors stain free that you’ve heard of ?

My old Mistress. What a great boat, looking good with the updates my friend. Enjoy it!

CarlysleB 09-12-2023 09:28 AM

I saw the exterior of this boat in Conroe. Pictures don't do it justice.

Really looking forward to seeing the end result.

Beautiful job Python!...looks Great!.....what engine hatch lock downs are installed on your 35?....I have an hyd. lift for my hatch, want to install some twist locks in addition, what do you recommend....or anybody else's recommend.

87CigCafe 12-26-2024 07:38 PM

Beautiful!

She’s beautiful! Nice work and keeping it classic at the same time!

Python82 12-27-2024 09:12 AM

Hatches don't lock, have some kind of twist lock that doesn't do anything.

Can you post a bigger picture to include where those latches strike/rest when then are down? They likely are supposed to go into a metal receiver/grommet, or have a foot that is supposed to spin a grab a lip preventing them from raising.

scippy 01-01-2025 07:21 PM

Yes, like Sydwayz asked, can you post up pics of the engine hatch.

Notice the aluminum frame, don’t think that was original. So there is nothing that the latches on the hatch interacts with on the frame.

scippy 01-02-2025 10:33 AM

Do have pics of the hatch closed to show the top half of the latch itself?.....just curious to the many different types I'm plotting to install

cigrocket 01-06-2025 02:39 PM

I put the aluminum around the hatch for clearance of the 540's with the intake. So latches never worked after that.. I had rams on electric, so they weren't going to open anyway. Glad the boat is still kicking and looking great! Loved the lines of the boat. A lot of sweat and tears in that boat....lol

LOL, that was probably the Lewis brothers' boat and before that at one time belonged to Bob Morgan. It is definitely a wave crusher! Motors were rebuilt at one point and they missed like crazy. Builder pulled them and looked over everything and could not find an issue on an engine stand. Put them back in and under load they started missing again. I pulled the plugs, and they had installed R43 plugs, we put in the R43TS plugs, motors never missed a lick after that.
