Thinking about an upgrade (newer faster cigarette)
I have been thinking about an upgrade and moving to a newer faster boat. That has me doing some internet looking at couple of Cigarette with hawk engines. One with 572/650 HP and one with 572/750 blower motors. When were Hawk engine good and when were they bad? Any particular package good or bad?

I would assume by now any hawk motors have been gone through several times, thus you’re really asking yourself the age old questions- what paperwork do they have on the rebuilds, who did them, how many hours on rebuilds, how hard have they been run and how were they maintained….
|
Were the Hawk issues just assembly issues from back in the day. Yes, all the engines have been rebuilt in almost everything I have looked at but I didn't know what the concern with Hawk engines was.

What length Cig are you lookin for?

If you want to go faster look at a stepped hull if it's in your budget.

I am moving from a 81 33' limited with twin 420 so not fast. I have been looking at strait bottom boats in the 75+ MPH range. My goals is more modern (controls), faster, and I think just different. I am looking at the below boat. Dealer seems awesome and the boat check a lot of boxes. I do think 35' problem cafe racer.

I don't where you boat, but you know that one should handle the rough stuff pretty well. It looks like it has been taken care of and the paint scheme is pretty good. I personally would take off the Hawk on the bow, not my deal. Put a flag or something up there. If you like it, go try it out.

I run on the Ohio River in the Mcalpine upper pool. Louisville Ky. I have run my 33' Limited (wide body) and my 280 searay bowrider wide body. The 33 feels way bigger than the 280 which is a huge lowrider. I was amazed how the cigarette feels lighter than my searay (twin 350 SBC). The 33' Limit has very tall gunny walls but floats and operates as a lighter boat.
Anyone have thoughts on cafe racers vs bullets and how they may feel verse my previous experiences? Thanks In advance Brandon |
