Best route from LOTO to Havasu

Looks like my dream of owning a Top Gun 38 is coming to fruition. Can anyone recommend the best level or flattest route from LOTO to Havasu? I致e never towed anything this big for this distance and I壇 like to avoid switch backs or elevation if possible.

Congrats!!

Did you buy the gun at big thunder marine? Be cool
to have another cig around.

40 to the 44 is pretty much all you got.

Leaving OSB, Hwy 54 to Hwy 5 to I-44, when you get to Oklahoma City, Take Kilpatrick Expressway (I-344) around the city to I-40, head west until Hwy 95 turn left, will take you into Havasu. :ernaehrung004:

It is really a pretty easy drive, but is up hill from Amarillo TX to Flagstaff AZ, so don't freak out on your mileage (you gain 6000 ft in elevation) bright side is it is down hill rest of the way.

Plenty of fuel and eating places along the way.

Just be careful near Albuquerque, likely where you will end up the first night, it has gone down hill big time, LOTS of homeless that want something to pawn! So park in the hotel lot if possible, under a light. and check the next morning to make sure you don't have any hitchhikers

Thank you I知 very excited. Yes the less expensive Gun at Big Thunder. I知 just waiting for the survey and mechanical inspection to be completed but Ed says the boat is in fine shape.

Thanks for the route guidance, I知 sweating the elevation in the summertime so I may attempt to drive at night to keep the temps down.

If you are using a modern truck, the temps should not be an issue. That Gun will pull easy, buy a roll of shrink wrap tape and tape the cover all the way around and that too will help with mileage and resistance. The biggest thing is your first hour getting used to the ride, then it is only on the sharp(er) turns that you will have to pay attention so you don't cut the curb. I would MUCH rather pull in the light over night, easier to see what's going on with the trailer and boat.

My tow rig is a 2004 1 ton but 6.0 gas. I致e upgraded to a severe duty fan clutch, and deeper transmission pan with cooling tubes.

You池e absolutely correct in it being safer to drive during the light and I do no better, thanks for the helpful reminder.

Aahhhh - this is bringing back memories of me buying my Cafe. CT to VA. Bought a 3WD cattle truck with 350k miles off the side of the road on the way to CT without synchronizers in 2nd gear. I was a dumbass 25 year old kid.

You sound smarter than me!! Good luck!!

Tank, do you have any recommendations for storage in Havasu? After seeing your Channel Islands pics I知 rethinking my only in Havasu usage. But I need to get lake storage first. Currently I have a unit in Needles but I want to go to the Lake.

I called Phil at Lipship to ask about some gear and he remembers the boat I知 purchasing as one of the first Kevlar editions with a full cabin that he rigged. He also said that he had this exact boat around the Rock of Gibraltar. Way cool guy and very helpful. He said once I take possession he can send me copies of pictures he had with the boat in Portugal.
