38’ TG- Anyone Running Stage 2 700Sci’s

Talking to Mark Boos, he was concerned with intercool temps while running Stage 2’s on v-bottom. Anyone been running Stage 2’s with any issues? Or, should I just be happy and leave them alone? Thanks

I'm surprised Boo's is no longer a proponent of Stage II? Are you sure you're not talking about Stage IV, of which I would agree.

Hardin Marine 2 Stage water pump, Stage II Tune, :cool-smiley-011:

The only thing that I would be concerned about is making sure you have enough octane. After two fuel related issues I started mixing race fuel with 93 to alleviate this problem.

FYI: The water pump can directly feed the inter-cooler if need be.

I currently do run 2 stage water pumps with one feeding intercooler. I think his concern was around v-hauls and not cats. My suspicion is around the efficiency of the cat hauls vs the v, perhaps laboring the motors harder?

That’s interesting, I’d think the opposite. A cat can easily sustain high speeds (rpm) for a long duration. V bottoms seem like you run them up and run them back down (not always).

If you’re outside of boost you’re running on the bypass and the compressor isn’t building heat (not alot).

Lastly, you’re running probably 80* water through at a high rate with a dual stage. I wouldn’t suspect IAT’s to get too bannnas.

I agree with you. My question is really more of a sense check. Boo’s is the man when it comes to 700’s, so I heed his advice seriously.

He told me the same thing a couple years ago so I did the stage 1. He recommended changing thermostats even with the stage 1 but I left the stock ones in and haven’t had any problems. I’ve had good luck with two boats running the stage 1 upgrade, I really think it’s about a 100hp upgrade. As was said, 93 is a must.

Good feedback. Thanks

I had 700s in my 42x with stage 2 and water pressure was an issue. in hindsight I would have preferred stock. plus as mentioned above having enough octane. they did run lean

I’m leaving them alone. He reflashed my computers, and I should be right at 800hp. I’ll take that and be happy. I bought them for reliability, leave it up to me to get greedy and chase a few more horsepower and ruin my summer. Thanks everyone

Good move .
