what is the used market like now for early Cig's?

After several years of her treating me well, I think I am going to be putting my 93 TG up for sale this summer.....
It doesn't get used much, our boating style has changed and looking for something newer that I can put more people on.
Its very nice, many updates, needs nothing and everything works as it should

I was wondering how the market is looking, any recent sales lately?
Thanks!

You should reach out to Duane in this thread Looking at Cigarette TG 38 at Big Thunder - Page 2 - Offshoreonly.com He picked up a 93 Lip-Ship Gun with SC power and a lot of upgrades, on a Myco from BTM last year. I know he paid under 100, can't remember exactly what but was just under if I recall (80's maybe). Hit him up. he was searching and landed on that 93.

Market is not good…I know from experience. Here are the things working against you:

1. the market has moved away from IO boats
2. Insurance
3. no one will lend against a 30 year old boat
4. Flat bottoms are out
5. graphics and design (subjective)
6. interest rates are high making it hard for people to find money

Id say 90’s model top guns are worth 55k-75k depending on condition and setup. Power that’s been upgraded with bravos seem to sell the best.

graphics are a big deal. If the boat has dated graphics, expect to be low balled into oblivion.

we are in the process of selling ours…I’ll tell you the number has a 6 in front of it. Sadly I have double that into the boat. It is what it is…

shocked you have not sold!! I gave your name on here to someone from CT a few weeks ago who was looking for an older TG in a Facebook Forum.

Thanks for the breakdown, I've been away from it for some time...
everything you said sounds reasonable...
fortunately mine has some updated paint, logos, dash etc... updated power and B1's so maybe that positions me a little better
guess we'll see what happens... thx!

IMO and knowing your boat some, I'd guess that if PBC or BT listed it, they'd prob start with an asking price around 100k and after its all said and done, you'd prob net 75k ish.
Biggest problems are you will need a cash or HELOC buyer and then the buyer being able to find insurance.

Old pic of it that I found in the archives

sounds about right…problem with pbc and bt is that they are very picky about what old TG’s they sell. They werent interested in listing mine when I called a couple years ago.

They look for very basic paint. Basically all white with a stripe or two. Super clean everything with traditional power. Mostly upgraded efi power. Stuff that’s turn key. They are very risk adverse. They don’t want boats sitting on there lot taking up space.

I'm sure they know what sells and what doesn't. They also have a reputation to protect.
