Removing Fuel From Top Gun

Maybe this helps someone some day…

I spent a few hours last week trying to figure out how to drain my top gun tanks. Tried the fillers, senders, and Parker ball valves in the back.

was going to try the engine fuel lines. I was running into dead ends everywhere.

senders were a nightmare to remove. Parker ball valves were a maze of fittings. And the fuel fill hose was too convoluted to fish anything down it.

ended up pulling small deck up in front of cabin door. Underneath it had 2 barbed fittings for vents. I ended up pulling hoses and fishing hoses down into tank to drain.

tilted boat forward to get all of it. Was it perfect no. But got the job done.

hopefully no one else has to do it.

I’ve done this just s few times to several boats. Not your model nor manufacturer boat. I connected my remote electric fuel pump set up to the fuel line going to the engine. Used double barb end 3/8” fitting to connect the two.

that’s certainly a viable method. I think the only two downsides would be:

1. I read there are last chance screens on the engine fuel lines

2. the engine fuel lines are usually 1-2” off the floor of the tank to protect against water. So you may not get it all.

I was told to disconnect fuel pump line exiting the pump and turn key on. Fuel pump drained the tank pretty fast.

think it depends on your setup. With mine it wouldn’t work…

Internally there are baffles so you`ll never going to get it all either way.
I`ve always done like SB, super easy.
