1980-1982 Original Cigarette Brochures

1 Attachment(s)
I was digging in my attic yesterday, I found a Original Book put together by Don Aranow. It has payment procedures, history, contacts, sales agreements, and photos and price sheets of every boat Cigarette made in 1980-1982
It includes: 20" 24" Cigarette, 24' Squadron X11, 27' Squadron X11,28' Cig,35' Cig,36' Cig, 38' Cig,39' Squadron,41' Cig, 41' Cigarette Attaack, 43' Huntress.
I worked there from 1984-1999.
Does anyone have a clue what this may be worth??
Scott

Doug 02-19-2003 12:40 PM

I think it would very nice if you donated it to someone that has a Cigarette like myself and will really enjoy it. :D

Stormrider 02-19-2003 02:49 PM

They should be put in an enshrined time capsule down at Thunderboat Row.

Scott,

How many pages is that book?

Ebay might be a way to see what it is worth...just make sure you set the reserve high enough so you don't end up giving it away.

Sean

ssmith76 02-21-2003 11:04 AM

Thanks

The book is 68 pages of pictures, prices, specs, color charts etc. I would put it on E-Bay but I wouldnt have a clue where. I think OSO will bring more knowledgable, Cigarette enthiast.
Thanks,
Scott

Brochures

Well I think cool things like this should have a home for all to see. I am going to sell it to a person that will put it on the web for all to view. www.thunderboatalley.com This site is dedicated to old cool things about Don.
I went down Thunder boat alley today. First time in almost 5 months. Holly ****, you would not recognize it. No Ft. Apache, No Tempest, pretty flowers, 4 lanes, trees, a Rec. center, a school. Holy **** what have they done.
Scott The Horror, The Horror.

Biggus 02-24-2003 02:35 PM

awwww , c'mon Scott:(

I sold my Led Zeppelin collection yesterday to raise the $$$ for that book!

Seriously, I think it is going to a good home were we all can view it.

I just wanted to possess it:D

Kurt:cool:

Sean 02-24-2003 03:20 PM

Thanks Scott...I'm looking forward to this piece of history and will be posting it on the site as I have time.

Stay tuned!

Sorry Kurt, I know yer a fanatic like me...mebee I'll rent it to ya for a weekend
:D :D :D

ssmith76 02-25-2003 04:11 PM

Gone

Sean, Its on the way Fed. Ex. so I dont want to hear anyone yelling at me for not sending it. Now your going to be *****ed at until all can see. Sorry but tag your it. Hope you and all enjoy. It is a piece of History that was being wasted in my attic. In the book you will see the purchasing agent was Bob Malark and Ruth Trybus. When Ruth left to move to England she gave it to me when she Knew I was the next Cigarette junky. Now that I'm gone and my wife just got the boot. I thought the people who love the boats; not the internal BS at the New owners can appretiate it.
Enjoy All:hothead: :( :( :hothead: :hothead: :hothead: :hothead:

Scott - your a good man.
Sean - Can't wait. This is awesome news. I have a 1982 Mistress. Gotta know how much this baby really weighs and what they were selling for back then. Scan away!
:D

Oh well, Sean you lucky dog...

I guess there's indeed merit to a public display of ones shrine. I can only wonder if some photo’s of the cigarette logos painted on my garage doors, the branded neon lights and pictures in each room of my house, the license plates, the pictures in my office, and the tattoo’s I forced my wife, kids and dog to get, would have helped at all?

Seriously, Sean, I love your site and really appreciate your efforts. I can’t wait to see the uploaded photos to match them up to my collection.

Take care.

Sean 02-28-2003 11:30 AM

I got the stuff yesterday...well, my parents did anyway...I'll get to look at it tomorrow and start posting stuff soon.

Aqua-Holic,

OSO member "Dreamer" owns the 28SS now. He has it for sale by the way.

Yup, dreamer bought the boat last year and seems to have gotten fourfootitis...the boat ran 67-68 on radar when I had it, but we never tweaked the props..that was out of the box with the X raised about 1 3/4" above stock and the props spinning in.

I think he has th props labbed and found a couple of extra mph.

I took a look at the brochures this weekend and Cigarette must have changed the layup schedule dramatically because the 1980 28ss is reported to weigh 5000lbs with 400s and TRS drives...

Thanks guys,
That boat is simply amazing. If I was in a position to move up, the keyboard would be smokin'

I was doing a search online and came across this old thread. What happened to this piece of history? I'd love to get the pages copied for an 82 28ss.

Bill.

I have the original Cigarette factory brochure of their line from when I built my 79 28 SS.

What's my bid?

lucky strike 07-06-2016 06:07 PM

Better than that I have the 1984 Mercedes Red 500 SEC that Don bought new for his wife Shirley.
They sold it to a friend of mine and I bought it from them.
It's on www.mercedeshowroom.com

Yes it has the 24 in it

rvander68 07-08-2016 06:34 AM

That's cool. Any chance you can snap and post photos of those pages?

Cig35Mistress 07-08-2016 04:56 PM

Steve, if you would be so kind as to scan the 1979 brochure, more specifically the pages dedicated to the 35' Mistress, I'd be eternally grateful - I just bought another Mistress, and it happens to be a 1979! Also, I'm in need of a referral for a great indie MBZ repair shop, in the Stuart/Jupiter area, if you know of anyone. Please shoot me a PM either way. Many thanks, Harry

Ghost24 07-08-2016 08:23 PM

I'd love to see what it has for the 24 as well--I have a 1972.

Regards,

Mike

I'll do it... Don't know of any shops by you. We have a great shop here.

Man we need More of this vessel!! Looks SWEET!

Ghost24 07-11-2016 05:27 PM

Thanks! I think I'll collect some pics and start a thread on the boat, so I stop hijacking. :)

Mike

CigaretteSam 07-31-2018 10:46 AM

Probably a long shot given how long ago this thread was started, but does anyone have these brochures as PDF files? I am buying an old 39' Squadron and would like to see these, if still available...thanks in advance.
