Top Gun vs Cafe Racer

What are the differences between the earlier Top Gun's and Cafe Racer's (1993-1997) vintage?

Was the 35' called a Cafe Racer and the 38' called a Top Gun? are there any major differences besides length?

Thanks

The Cafe has a angled fairing with a non-skid "channel" going through the center of the deck. The center is what looks the most different. The 35 "was" called the "Cafe Racer" The dash is very different as well.

The 38 from about 86-87 on up, is the Top Gun. Before that they were just 38 flat decks or even the "Cigarette Hawk." Hawk power was pretty much exclusively used in Cigarettes back in the day.

The old 35's 86 and back were called the "Mistress." They have since redesigned the 35 to resemble a Top Gun and are calling it the Mistress again.

The 35 does not have a "Notch" in the transom. Don't confuse that with the "steps."

The 38 has a notch and allows for a different "X" dimention. That is why the 38 T/S is faster than the 35 T/S.
