Cigarette 28 Specs.
 

I have started looking at "entry-level" boats - I have been considering mainly new or nearly-new Fountain, Formula, Donzi, plus a variety of west coast custom builders - in the 27-28' range. On another forum, someone pointed out the Cig 28 as an alternative. I have only seen pictures on-line at the usual locations - just fom looking it appears as if the 28' has a lower freeboard than the others, which if true is not fatal, but I do like the boat to be reasonably deep. I live and will be boating in the Pacific Northwest - so a decent windshield is preferred. I also will be towing whatever I get (and we have a few mountains around here), so size and weight are issues. If I did go for an older classic, the main thing would be a decent hull. I can always re-power - probably with the smaller blocks 350Mags or 6.2's. I would appreciate any comments/opinions - and, if anyone has a spec. sheet or an old brochure etc. I would appreciate if it could be faxed to me. Well the winshield does absolutely no good, it is a really shallow boat. I can mesure from the floor to the rail tonight to give you an exact measurement. As far as the hull is concerned, it is built like a brick ****house. They are heavy boats and handle rough water awesome, they are really fun to drive. the cabin is decent size for a 28ft. boat w/a half cabin. My only major ***** about mine is that the engine compartment is very very tight..in order to pull the motors you first have to pull the Drives off of the back and then take at least one tailstock off, not to mention all the pumps and filters of of the front wall:mad: and strip the motors halfway down....asuming the boat has trs drives w/ trannys. They supposedly offered the 28 w/ big blocks but I wouldnt wanna even think about trying to work on those:p Its a fairly easy tow, I tow mine 4hrs. round trip to Lake Erie every weekend with a 3/4 ton chevy with a 5.7L 350 with no problem. The boat weighs 5k lbs. + a 2k lb. steel trailer. The boat has an 82gal. fuel tank in the rear, some of them also have a 30gal. tank under the cabin.

All in all it is a solid boat and a lot of fun. I love mine

The front of the engin compartment actually hangs over the front of the engines about 6 inches, that is why it is such a pain in the ass

I just redid my entire interior this winter, I will try to post some pics of that in the near future;)

Nice to see you on the good forum! Thrillseeker has a sweet old 28'. His is the low windshield I told you about - a better looking boat than my old high windshield model.

Rebar, you could be right. That is just the number that I got from the Loadmaster Trailer Co. on the weight of the boat. I will have to put it on the truck scales tomorrow to find out for sure;) I love the black paint it gives the boat a very mean look.

Oh yeah, Mike it is 2' 8" from the floor to the rail at the rear bench and 3' from the floor to the rail at the helm. Its real shallow but you can see everything that is going on in front of you;)
