how much power to make a Cafe do 80?
would hp 500s be enough power to make a Cafe Racer hit the 80 mark or would it take more:confused:
|
not unless you had 3 of them. :)
i think you will need 600+ hps you will be up in the area. |
No way. 500's in a Cafe will barely get you 70. You would need around 700hp or so to get to 80. That would only tap it. To easily clear 80 you need some big hp. They are purty heavy.

a friend of mine has 650's in his and can get 82 max on a good day. freshwater also so it should be a lil faster in salt.
but i have 625's in my bullet and can run 80-83 in salt so he may not be makin a true 650. |
According to this speed calculator (it is right on the money for my Cafe)http://www.go-fast.com/boat_speed_predictions.htm with the constant at 230 you need 1200HP at the prop to pull a Cafe at 80MPH 500's only have 470HP each at the prop putting a Cafe at around 73 MPH

No way with 500's. I have blown 502's - never dyno'd - but I'd guess between 625-650 each. Best I've seen (last spring, cool day, just me, but a lot of gas on board)is 82.3 gps. I ran a little over 80 about two weeks ago horsing around one afternoon..

I just finished my 540's and I'm still dialing them in. theyve never been dynoed, but I'm told they should produce around 600hp. With TRS drives, the best ive seen is 69.3 running 30" bravo 1s at 4500rpm...I'm doing some more testing this weekend, but I would estimate it would take close to 800 per side to get to 80mph

Hello all!!
I have a set of 650`s with bravo`s and my gaffrig 80 mph speedo goes way past 80 to what i think is 83+. No gps and no dyno... bravoone 28`s with a 1.50 gear, with a conservative 17.5 inch x dimension. I believe full throttle to be around 5400(not a good time to look down) I hope this helps!! cheers TOM |
Tom,
I'm going out this weekend...you gonna be around? Wanna take a ride to Claudios? Call me 516 455 1200 Sean |
Not that hard
You will need between 575HP to 600 Hp I have done so many that tip that number from the late eighties model to mid year 90s.
