dhlaw 11-20-2003 10:25 AM

The boat definitely looks better right side up!!!

BobbyB 11-20-2003 12:16 PM

That is a good looking boat also!

lucky strike 11-20-2003 01:31 PM

That doesn't look like the same boat @ Lip-Ship, am I wrong?

I believe there were 5 Carbon Fiber F2 T/S Guns made. The three that I know have been pleasurized are all outstanding.

I watched Speed Racer being put back together at Tres shop after Jeffrey bought it. He had everything done as if he would own the boat forever. At the time, a boat like Speed Racer was so far beyond my means, I was happy just looking forward to riding in it. It arrived in SoCal with HP500's and ran like a raped ape. It was later fitted with relativly big power(700hp?). It was almost scary fast.

The Team Virgin is out here in SoCal. I don't know what kind of power is in it, but that boat is a show stopper (see below). The 6-pack cockpit came out real nice.

I think the Maxx boat is one of the 5. It's for sale now, but doesn't look as fresh as the Virgin, Speed Racer and the Lip-Ship boats.

Does anyone know what the 5th boat was and where it is?

I think these boats are special .... Cigarette factory race boats ... unique from all other T/S guns ... a couple of them were World Champions ... these ARE special boats.

Hey G,

i always thought there were only 4 F2 Carbon Fibers made in 2000. Dick Simon (Speed Racer), Team Virgin, Maxx and Lip Ship.

anyone else know?

chad

dhlaw 11-21-2003 08:53 AM

Is the team Virgin Gladiator carbon fiber as well????

the TV Top Gun is, but i don't think the TV gladiator is a carbon fiber layup.

BTW, congratulations on your purchase. that is my favorite gladiator to this day! are you campaigning the boat in a few races or are you planning a pleasure conversion?

dhlaw 11-21-2003 11:03 AM

I may give it a shot..... my throttle man has years of experience in B class and F-2. We will do some testing and make the call.

lucky strike 11-21-2003 12:26 PM

Congrats on the purchase Brett.

Chad, you are right ... only four.

Someone else told me the same thing today.

There were also two single step F2 Top Guns. I don't know if they were carbon fiber boats. Here is a pic of one.

The Cig Stinson was in is not Brett's old F2 Boat. It did roll and ejected Brett Furshman and Scott Mander. It's still a great boat but not meant to turn at break neck speeds. I raced a 2002 38 TS Top Gun and trust me I know. Matter of fact I may be the only one not to be ejected out of a TS racing. BH

GLH 12-25-2003 08:30 AM

Let' bring this tread back up maybe someone will add information on the F2 at Phil's.

The definition of ocean racing is:
Standing in a cold shower, beating yourself over the head, while tearing up $100 bills as fast as you can.

Are you going to be in for it you ask? Depends on water conditions and who's running the sticks and trim. Hope you have a hot tub at your house, you'll need it.

PS-Some of the best times in my life was when I was racing. I have a solid 180 races under my belt, and the scars to prove it. I would do it again without thinking about it.

Go buy the book "SEARACE" by John Crouse.

I've crawled all over it many times. It's usually sitting in the showroom.

That was the F-2 boat prior to being 'Speed Racer'.
;) Stinson has some great frame by frame shots of that boat rolling with him and Dick Simon on board...boat was fine by the way.

Hot Duck 12-26-2003 11:39 AM

I got an e-mail a few weeks ago that "Cigarette1" on this board had bought the boat. I sent him a few pictures of it from when we had it and we shot a few messages back and forth discussing the boat. From what I understand, he is not taking it out of Phil's until after the Miami boat show or maybe even a little later. Maybe things have changed since then, but this is the last that I know about the boat. Maybe he will check in and confirm this or correct me.

cigarette1 12-26-2003 02:16 PM

HD,

Thanks again for the pics. I am still here, the deal is still on. I just don't want to toot my horn too loud until the deal is closed, which should be Tue-Wed of next week. The bank is waiting for one document from the prior finance company and then it all mine.

I have plane tickets to take delivery on 01/09 and run it around for a couple of days and then I'll be back for the boat show. I do intend to leave it in Miami until some time after the boat show. We want to stay the Mon-Tue after the show to boat around. Any OSO peeps going to be boating that Mon-Tue in the Miami area??? I would love to run down to some of the Keys, play around SoBe and explore the IC around FtL.

Any players ????
