30 mystique??
I saw one of these for sale recently, and was very interested, but can't geta any real feedback on them. Is it a exactly what it seems? ...a mini top gun? or was it as some may have suggested cigarette should have called it the "mys-take", anyone have any insight into these, cig not making anymore..Why? etc.. Thanks for any info?

I looked seriously at one too. No cockpit room, don't know about the design. For the money though, it's ludicrous not to buy a 35.
That's what I did. Great boat, would not change a thing. Unfortunately, it is for sale, see classifieds. Most people that buy the Mystique trade soon for a 35 or a Top gun. Must be a reason. |
They are very nice, stable, and the T/S version is very fast.
There wasn't a big demand for the Mystique. Most folks when buying a new Cigarette want one of the bigger models, especially when dealing with the cost. They still have the molds and will build one if someone had to have one. |
I have been told that the non-step version tends to porpoise a bit but the step version does not.
Raymonds has a new 99 or 01 with twin Scorpion engines and they also have a new 35 Top Gun with HP500's. Someday they are going to make someone a deal on them30 |
I have a non stepped Mystique, with 2 - 500 e.f.i.s. Yes it is true, you will want to move up, but what a great stepping stone. The CLEAN ones are about 140k to150k, where the 35's/38's are 200k to 250k, same years (02/03)
The porpoise "problem" is minimal, easily managed with slight trim. The stepped models 3-5 m.p.h. faster, however, handling (turns) and ride not as traditional. Honest 80 m.p.h., in a very well built package, basically a mini top gun. (many of the same features) Check out the room in the rear seat, compare it to the others, decide if YOU need more, I have not found it to be a problem. Cigarette has ceased production, because in their words, almost the exact labor cost (ie: cabin, engine installation, dash, interiors etc.) as the larger boats, far less margin. Oh, one last thing, the factory and the dealer compared it to a 500 series B.M.W, while smaller than the 700 series, same quality, just different in size and ride. |
I think the Mystique was kinda like a Bullet replacement. Like the Playboy was to the Cafe.
