What is the fastest Cigarette ever?

With all the OL/Fountain controversy these days, I was curious what is commonly (or maybe not commonly) known to be the fastest speed ever recorded in a Cigarette.

You can break it down -race vs. pleasure- if you like. Just looking for a number.

who cares as long as your in a cig, thats what counts....look at kevin, he has a bayliner and pulls it with a minivan..the one thing i know, it does not matter what speed your going, if your rolling in a cig, all eyes are on you. to answer your question, i have no idea....lol dave

I'm spreading the word. I have a fountain now and it is fast (100+). Screwed (laminated) together so poorly I am afraid to run it at speed for fear of it coming apart.

Now I am moving to Cig. Primarily for build quality.

Rio Roses is probably the fastest to date.

I can remember it getting comfortably into the upper 120's. 125+ when it had 1100's. It had 1200's once though.

Bill Proctor's 46' Rough Rider has to be one of the fastest pleasure Cig's out there. I'm not positive on the exact speed, but I believe that it runs in the high teens to 120 mph range:eek:

I thought Bills boat was at 122 or 125 before. And that is one sweet sounding boat.

My buddies dad had the fastest in 1982 (I think it was a 78) 38 with twin turbines. "Jet Set Cigarette" Some of you West MI guys might remember it. It was a 38 I think.

Mad Hatter 02-26-2004 09:18 AM

er scratch that, his dad built the fastest, not owned.

I'll never forget hanging out at the end of Grand Haven pier 20+ yrs ago watching 'Jet Set Cigarette" coming out, the guy and his girl putting on helmets, the whine of the turbines...what a kick a$$ boat!!!

They took off and headed south with a stream of spectator boats trying to follow...in a couple of minutes they were out of sight...

Last i heard it was in some warehouse and owned by a guy named prinze or something?

That would be a cool restoration!

Everyone who ever saw this boat remembers it well To this day one of the coolest rides I ever saw. NK

Nauti Kitty 03-03-2004 05:29 PM

I think kangaroo rat was the fastest straight bottom top gun for a long time. Also a 46 with trip 1000's built for the 13 year old son of an arab sheik ran 106 on the cover of powerboat or boating like 10 years ago. Nutty. NK

Tom A. 03-28-2004 10:20 AM

Hey Nauti, was that a blue and white boat named Iceman. In 1995 I was down at Cigarette on a job interview and had a chance to go on that boat and see them test run it. That boat eas going to the son of an arab sheik and was the seventh cigarette the shiek was adding to the family fleet.....must be nice:drool:
