need help RE:shipping
Tried this on the general discussion board with no responses so I thought I would try here where fellow cigarette owners are more than helpful.
I need to ship a gladiator on a trailer from the factory to me (Seattle area). Had a fountain sent out on a flat bed with another boat (both on trailers) several years ago, everything turned out good then. Don't have their name any longer. Any recommendations? shippers that you have worked with and had a good experience (no damage)? All help appreciated! |
try biggus. tough time right now, everyone is down in miami.

I have my boat shipped twice a year from Miami to Oklahoma. I use Lip-Ship's driver named Mike. He is fast and no damage has occured.
|
Thanks guys; Were talking early may finish date, so I have time to make arrangements. I am buying boat through Lip-ship, did they pull it up on the trailer?
Is biggus a shipping comp. owner? I have seen him recommended before on other threads. Lastly. I am leaning towards a steel MYCO. I do have to dunk it but am capable of keeping it clean. Any thoughts pro or con on trailers? |
I prefer them to ship it on a dunkable trailer. I don't like slings.
|
i agree with cigracer. if you can keep the myco clean you will be very happy with a steel trailer. mine is a 89 and still going strong, i love it. nothing compares in my book. a manning would be my second choice, and im sure marc would give you a fair price on a manning..to answer your question on biggus, he is just a very respected member of this board, he will also be very fair with you and your needs. give him a ring. dave

2112, I've shipped my Cigarette from Chicago to Miami and back several times. One thing to keep in mind is what your insurance company's requirements are for who trailers your boat. My company only allows transport if I, the insured, does it, or a transporter who is properly insured for any mishap. You would have to provide them with proof of insurance. A private individual probably wont be insured. I have used National Marine's guys exclusively and they are extremely reasonable compared to all others. I know for a fact they have more than enough coverage for any mishap!! Also, I too have another Cigarette being built. Should be completed around the same time as yours. Good luck with your new boat.

Thank you Greek!
Very good advice. I will be sure to get such proof of insurance. PS Which model are having built? |
Which model are YOU have built?
Spell check doesn't't fix omissions:rolleyes: Also; What are you doing on the trailer issue? Sounds like you might dunk it once in blue moon. |
I have shipped several members boats on a step deck or double drop trailer...My family does own a trucking company and we are insured up to $1,000,000 so I can probably do it for $1.50/mile....Let me know.
