Anyone have whipples on 525s'
How did the install go, and more important any problems afterwords?
|
A friend of mine has ,and besides not running properly when the temp. is below 60 degrees and constantly blowing drives, they are fine.
|
Our sealed 525's dyno'd much higher then 525HP, so why SC them?
There are probably more economical and safer ways to pump these engines up even more. Contact user name "Audacity", he seems to have a line on getting more HP out of these engines. |
A guy who used to keep his boat next to mine did this and he was a happy camper. Whipples seem pretty decent.

I can only speak from my own experience regarding modifying a set of perfect engine's, the odds of something going wrong are much greater. The experience was a living nightmare that never ended, the result was one year of being boatless, dealing with the blame game, chasing people to get answers, and tens of thousands to replace them, not to mention a boat yard that I had a 10 year realtionship with, that ended in a bittter divorce. So, ask yourself if you feel lucky, and if so how long that luck will last. I wound up selling that boat, and now have a 42 tiger with stock 500EFI, and it's a pleasure, as well as knowing that if in fact should there ever be a problem, it wasn't due to some modification thay can only be fixed by the one person who did the modification. If you want to go "SC" sell your 525's and purchase a set of Factory built 575's

One more point , when the day should ever come of selling your boat with the type of engine modifications discussed, any dealer will tell you that it is much more difficult to get rid of, to the degree that most will not take it in as a trade, and if they do, the price would reflect as though there are no motors in the boat.
