Mystique

just was wondering if anyone has a 30 mystique
and how it runs/handles

Von Bongo 04-22-2004 06:19 PM

Stepped ones run nice..Strait V's need some tab to keep them from porpoising

Cigarette 30 04-23-2004 10:38 PM

I have a non stepped and am very pleased, yes a little tab is required, but what the heck. Top end an honest 80+, with 500 efi's, and Cigarette quality, with the Top Gun looks, yet easy to trailer, and handle.

jdwlac 04-24-2004 05:08 AM

thanks,
what year cig30?
did it come w/ 500 efis or swapped later ?

I looked very long and hard at a Mystique before buying my 35 TS.

In the end, there were a few things I didn't like about the Mystique that made my decision for me.

1. Less room in the cockpit. If you study pictures closely, the rear seat is VERY close to the bolsters.

2. Rough water handling. Although it is a great hull, there is no substitute for lenth of hull in the water.

3. Price per foot. It doesn't cost much more to 5 more feet of boat.

4. Resale. Although Cig makes a GREAT boat, the 30' seems to have a limited market because of the reasons listed above. It seems as though people upgrade to either a 35 or 38 soon after buying the 30.

5.No longer built by Cig. I'm guessing there is a reason. I think the cost of building a 30' boat is close to a 35 or 38, yet they don't command the price of the bigger boat. See #4 above.

Now, if you are serious about buying a Cig, and are looking for a great boat with good resale, awesome performance with stock power, and attention grabbing looks: Click Here!!

CigBoat 04-29-2004 06:24 PM

Does anyone know what happened to the mold or where it came from did they make it just for this boat or was it a cut down from something else!

Cigarette 30 05-01-2004 09:56 PM

Cigarette still has the mold, and will build another for the right $. Call Harry @ Offshore Performance. Still a lot of boat for the money. The mold was designed as a small Top Gun, same looks and quality, but was later found not to be as profitable.

Thanks for the info!

Anyone know anything about this one?

30th Anniversary Edition, looks sweet, but mild power. How fast?

Ad says twin 425HP...I thought 454MPI's were 330hp?

mirageman 05-04-2004 04:39 PM

If I could buy a boat right now that would be the one. NADA says 107k low to 125k high, and they are asking 83k for it. I would buy it.

Von Bongo 05-04-2004 05:58 PM

454 Mags EFI/MPI are 385 box stock. That boat has aftermarket exhaust and who knows what else so maybe they are estimating HP.

CigDaze 05-05-2004 06:56 AM

Von, if they're MAG's, then you're right...it didn't mention that but I'd hope they are at least that. That would be nice, stock power.

Mirage, I did check NADA, that's what I got also. Looks like a nice deal.

Hmmm...

Von Bongo 05-05-2004 01:00 PM

ABOS says $99 to $134 depending on power. If they aren't mags that could be why it is so cheap because 660HP isn't going to make that boat perform real well.

Even at 385 per side it's probably a 70mph boat. A stepped hull with 496ho's ran high 70's on Boat Test.

Not saying it isn't great buy but probably be wanting to add different power or super chargers sometime down the road.

Craig has had some really good deals lately, and a great guy to talk to. I looked at a 35 Sonic he had that was a steal, NOT for me, but I know who got it.

You're certainly right about that. No, the performance wouldn't be very stellar, but it's a solid ride, and the reliability would be nice. Hmmm...

CigDaze 05-05-2004 03:27 PM

Does anyone have any pics looking down at the cockpit...trying to get an idea of layout and roominess.

Thanks.

otis311 05-05-2004 06:15 PM

Nick, Call Blume over at Nation 954 605 8836 cell. He has a 30 down at the Ft Lauderdale store. I looked at it while killing time with G.L down there in Feb. It was real clean with the Flag graphics and 496 ho's

You know the rest of the deal with them. If there is a deal to be made, the can make it happen. I was going to call you and suggest this rig anyways. I really think this would be the way to go for you instead of a older Gun or Cafe that has the potential to be a money pit. This 30 is new technology and should be trouble free. Then if you do want to upgrade, just go back to the boys at National and they wont kill you on trading up

Nick, Not much difference in size of cockpit from what you have know. Maybe even a tad smaller with less room between back seat and bolsters. But there is 5' more nose and a little bit bigger sunpad and that aint hard to take.

Besides, As the great G.L. Harvey once said about cockpit space while standing in the drivers Bolster of his Tiger. " My 2 square feet of cockpit is VERY COMFORTABLE, thats all I care about, What more do I need"

GOOD POINT !!!!!!!

Its all good

I can definately agree with that... ;)

Thanks for the tip...I'll look into that one as well.

Anyone know how fast a 30 TS is with a pair of 496HO's?

WHOSNEXT 05-06-2004 12:04 PM

Cigarette 30 05-06-2004 01:06 PM

The 30' at Martin, is with out a doubt the roughest Cig I have ever seen. You cannot compare that boat to anything. It would cost a small fortune to even bring it to "fair shape". Motors worn, needs paint, interior etc. Boat has never seen soap and water, note the port side is not shown ...... there is a reason ....

CigDaze 05-06-2004 01:23 PM

Thanks guys! :)

Von Bongo, that's perfect.

Cigarette 30, that bad huh?...:(
What a shame.
Tres said it needs a little "TLC."
That would explain the incredibly attractive price.

I know the straight bottoms run around 75. The T/S version usually will bring 10-12 more to be conservative.

Enrique Eglesias had a T/S Mystique that had some hopped up 575's pushing somewhere in the 600hp neighborhood. The boat would do 100.

CigDaze 05-06-2004 01:52 PM

Nice...:D

That's got to be a hell of a ride!

Thanks.

A buddy of mine owns this boat now, 101 gps so far......

otis311 05-06-2004 02:24 PM

Nick, Did you call down to National yet and see what they have to get for the 30 they have

Gordo 05-06-2004 03:43 PM

Ok, What's the deal with the different hull designs on the 30 Mystique. It sounds like there was an early design that had lots of problems. It was then updated somehow to ride better, (faster?). Then there was a notch added. Then steps were added. Does anyone know the actual time line of these hull refinements and what effect they had on performance?
I've seen pics of the old "Enrique Eglesias" boat. THAT was one sweet ride!!
Now, if I could just find a way to afford to even fantasize about it...

CigDaze 05-06-2004 03:47 PM

Bob, I talked to Blume briefly...I'll call you tonight.

CigDaze 05-06-2004 03:50 PM

Gordo,

My understanding is that the earliest ones were straight bottommed and tended to porpoise a little. Nothing major, just barely noticible and could easily be fixed using a little tab/trim.

The twin-steps rode great and were quite fast. No problems with that hull.

Then either of the above two, some had pads, some didn't. I heard the ones with pads didn't handle so great, but only what I heard.

dreamer 05-06-2004 07:16 PM

496ho t/s 30 will run 79 all day long... sea trialed the one at offshore performance before i bought my 35... any one who say the cockpit is to small... just lookj at how small the tigers cockpit is for 4x $$$... geat boat i just went bigger because of the intested rates at the time but maint $$$ will be much less... imj spending 10k on motor rebuldr now
