Got my boat back, with new hardware

Well, after missing a few weekends, the rig arrived yesterday.

It's "sporting" some new hardware now.

Went with the Sportmaster lowers this time around. I had standard XR's before. I changed from a 30 labbed 4 blade to a 28 to get a few more rpm. Looks like it found 1-2 more mph.

These new drives shift extremely smooth. It also throws a nice roost.

Have you found that it gets out of the hole as fast...or are you getting a little cavitation now that you went with the sportsmasters?? Are you turning in or out ??

I haven't had any cavitation issues yet. It used to cavitate coming up with the old setup. My props are turning out.

2002 Excursion with a V-10 and Firstone Air bags at 60 PSI. In other words...the wife's truck.

The pick by itself was before the Airbags.

I personally saw 93 MPH with the standard XR drives. P.R.G. said it ran 95 with the Sportmaster Lowers. I'll just have to verify that this Winter :D :D.

I wouldn't pull that trailer any faster Brandon, it can't be safe. Also turn the batteries off when it's on the trailer, just good boatmanship.

Brandon,
I take it that the 92 was posted on the way back from Hawk's Cay.
You really seemed to have your throttle technique down that afternoon
it was a run to remember.
Also Angela and I had dinner with Parnell Tues night. He mentioned that you were being exiled to another boat for SOTW to avoid any conflicts with his new boat pet Sheri. So sorry to hear that.
Best,
Rob..

That was probably my funnest run to date. I mean, how often do you get to run with a fully TRICKED out Tiger, cool buddies, in the Keys. Thanks again for letting me tag along.

As for the exile, I saw it coming. My tits are just way too small to compete. :D :D :drink:

I have a GPS too right by the speedo, the speedo in the higher speeds is actually slower than the GPS on our rig at least. Besides I'm married who do I need to catch!

So I assume you have had some time on the new setup now....do you find it cavitates any more with the new lowers????

It actually doesn't cavitate at all now. The 28's that I have are standard 4 blades with no lab work. I have a set I will try this weekend that are labbed from Merc. I have no idea what they will do, if anything. I could handle gaining top end at the expense of losing it on the low end. :)

Hey Pokedher,
Are your labbed also 28's and how did your tryout end up?

Still haven't ran em. Today was going to be the day but it's raining. I might throw them on for the weekend, but it will be difficult with all the holiday traffic to really run it.

I will post the results if I have any.
