TS TG with big power and #6's?
A while back, I remember reading some threads on here talking about the stepped hull Guns, and that Cig didn't recommend big power/SSM drives on the step hull.
But... I see National Marine has a new TS TG with Sterling 900s and #6's - how does the stepped hull work with that power? If I remember correctly, there was concern about the balance of the hull with the bigger power/drives? (I must be getting old because I can't remember the details) In any case, it seems like big power and speedies are rare in a Gun. |
Re: TS TG with big power and #6's?
Dockrocker...I have a state of the art Gun for sale....99 with brand new pfaff 1000's coupled to a pair of six's. It is one beauty that runs like a top...white with red and yellow flame graphics. It officially goes on the market next Tuesday and the asking price is 215K...after doing some careful research, it is very fairly priced and it runs awesome!!!

Dman, if I have those winning lotto numbers tomorrow you'll be hearing from me! Actually I was just curious - I can't recall seeing any other TS with big power and 6's.

Theres another one at national. It has yellow interior and huge scoops. 975's I think? Maybe Tim G can supply a pic.

Re: TS TG with big power and #6's?
That's the boat.
Those engines went into something else... We have a nifty pair of 1200 Cobras to go in the boat!! :hothead: It is a brand new boat.... It should run roughly 125mph.. :eureka: I will be sure to include some goggles with the boat. Trained operators only, please. I know some of you are thinking about upgrading from your pontoon boats...This is not the right choice for newbys.... Engines are not in the boat yet....so I could put 750s in it if the 1200s are too intimidating... |

Tim,
Did they dump the 46' Rough Rider in the water today? Saw a black Dually making a right on Atlantic Blvd with a BIG blue empty Myco trailer. LS JR. |

Re: TS TG with big power and #6's?
The boat with the Sterling 900's dockrocker is talking about was my 04 TG. The boat ran absolutely perfect. The was no balance issue or did it do anything bizzare. I traded the boat back into National Marine only because Cigarette had received 6 pairs of the new 1075s and I just had to have those motors in a new 42X. I am a EFI supporter and decided the 1075s was my best option. The TG was an absolute hot rod / bad ass boat.

Re: TS TG with big power and #6's?
I am a Cig novice so please excuse my ignorance. What is the difference between a 2004 42 X and a 42 XP? How do the XP's seem to handle with 900's and 6's? Thanks.

I also think that alot of guys looking to go/use big power are looking past the 38 and just going with the 42. The trend seems to be that the 42 is now about equal to what the 38 use to be as far as desireability is concerned, so that may explain less 38's with big power being produced. It looks to be the same trend with Outerlimits as well. |

Re: TS TG with big power and #6's?
The 38's step bottom was designed mainly for the Bravo drive. However, after Cig did a few with larger power and #6's it was determined that the boat doesn't do anything out of the ordinary. Because of the extra weight of the drives and motors speeds were in the neighborhood of a 108mph. My suggestion would be to stay with the Bravo XR drive and some good horsepower motors. My 2002 38 with XR drives and 575's running 5 bladed Herrings ran 93.8 on GPS. I know my friend's, Spinetickler, 38' with the 575's and intercoolers, etc ran close to 100.

Last one I'd go fishing for if I was a single man.
Nothing like a wide-load rack you can see while checking out the tail of the fish. |
