Range of a TS Top Gun
 

Ok it looks like bravos will last if you do not push them too hard or with too much horsepower on the newer TS TGs! My next question is what kind of range can you expect out of full tanks? If you guys over on the east coast want to head to the Bahamas or the keys what kinda range are you getting??

I was wondering if I wanted to leave Sarasota and head to key west how often would I have to fuel? I am sure that as long as I did not run 100 miles off shore there would be no problem with the insurance or am I wrong?

I was more referring to you going to the Bahamas with the insurance thing, I doubt coastal waters are an issue you living in Florida already.

Fuel wise Sarasota to KW (about 220 Miles) might be stretching on range, if I'd do it; I'd stop in Marco Isl. to top off (both fuel and lunch!). Your furthest run from the shore will be for the ~100 miles or so between Marco to KW. It's a nice run if the weather is nice like any offshore run you just need good planning.

Spare handheld GPS with extra batteries and a good range VHF, no cell phones between Marco and KW.

I would say about 200 miles. I almost always fill the boat (220 gallons) before we hit the water and I have done a few 100 mile trips and I come back with about 1/2 tanks.

I ran out of gas once in a previous boat and it was not a good feeling. I don't push it now, but 100 miles is no problem in a T/S gun.
