Re: 35 Café Ride & Handling.
Hi Nick
Off the top of my head....3500 cruise 2 people, full load, gets me at about 48-49mph gps with box stock 24P bravos spinning out. I could prob have them tweeked to 25P and gain some cruise, maybe a couple of mph. Not sure what it would do to the TE but my motors dynoed at 510hp so its prob equivilent to an 500HP. I have some 3 blade Mirages that I would guess take me to 75 or so but loose the cruise. I havent messed with the fine tuning, toe in etc so there may be a little more there. Like I said..the ride is what I'm after. Hope this helps. Joe.....your welcome to ride anytime...what about our cross FL river trip? Dan |

You would be surprized as far as the speed that can be gotten out of the Bullet.  They sure are alot of fun when the water gets snotty!! |
Re: 35 Café Ride & Handling.
Gordo,
I agree with Craig. If you're limited to nothing more than 33', you should consider a Bullet. I know only 31' but rides like a much longer boat. Kevin from MWPB turned me on to them Was amazed at the ride and without using any tabs whatsoever. Any Cig won't be as fast as some others because of the weight, but you can't beat the ride. Good luck. |

Thanks Dan. Good info.

Re: 35 Café Ride & Handling.
Glad you re-started this thread Nick. Lots of good stuff here.
Thanks for all the info gang. H-Cig, I agree that lighter is not always faster in snotty waters, and I realize the Cig is the boat to have in any big water. Problem is, Lake of the Ozarks isn't really big water, just the usual slop n chop washing machine stuff. Besides, as a few might tell you, I don't mind loose, fast, and getting a little air now n then. I've looked at a few other Cigs, but when I find something I like, it's way out of my $ range. I know, I know... "Story of my life". |

Cafe rules, Top Gun ride for 40% off. Of course if you've lost your marbles you get a Tiger and forget about EVER retiring.

Re: 35 Café Ride & Handling.
Gordo, have you looked at that purple/yellow/ and checkered Bullet that has the custom flat deck, race bolsters and staggered inovation n/a 750hp motors. It was for sale at lakecumberland marine and is now for sale maybe at the Aqua Toy Store. They want somewhere in the high 60's I think. Sweet a** boat if you ask me. I spoke w/ Glen Martin about it, it's definately a one of a kind. You should check it out.

Tank,
Looked into the Bullet in your link. BEAUTIFUL boat, and I have no doubt about 85+. Now comes the part about having cake, eating it, and licking the icing... I want something 30-33, but I want a V-berth I can actually sleep in if I want, and would like to have, (I can't believe I'm about to say this), a back seat and a (gasp) a porta-potti. The other thing is, I'd like to find something that weighs less than 8500lbs for more reasons that just speed. ( I think the 35 Cafe' weighs less than a Bullet!) I'd like to be able to do over 80mph, but I'll settle for low 70's, (for now). Oh, Did I mention I can't spend more than 100K? Maybe I've just eliminated myself from shopping for a Cigarette? :( Nick, Sorry if I've hijacked your thread dude. I can start another one if you'd like. |
Re: 35 Café Ride & Handling.

GLH - I owe you a drink in Miami next February. About the best way you can put the facts. Ask Kurt - we met for about 30 seconds last Feb in Miami. And GLH, I've NEVER lost "my marbles" in my Cafe. :drink: :drink: |

Accomadations - we sleep in it almosy every weekend. Back Seat - HUGE Pota Potti - works for a woman, small for a MAN.... Engines - Stock 502s with B&M 250 blowers. Best speed EVER on radar - 82.3gps. Consider it a STRONG 4000 rpm cruiser at 65 mph... |
Re: 35 Café Ride & Handling.
Not wild about having to deal with superchargers, but other than that I like your setup.
Maybe I'd be better off looking for a 33 PowerPlay. Less money, light, fast, solid? |
Re: 35 Café Ride & Handling.
Gordo,
If resale is in your parameters buy a Cigarette no other choice for the $ your talking about. Cafe Dry are #9400. |
Re: 35 Café Ride & Handling.
These Bullets amaze alot of people ! They are huge with great rough water ride........650hp=85mph......Prob more, I have never fooled with props..Yet

Especially when you want all the ammenities and not have SC motors. W/out blowers you're going to have a hell of a time getting a Cafe or a Bullet over 85. You have to be willing to "give a little to get a little" you know. If you buy any other brand boat it wont be a Cigarette....Everyone else is just following in thier foot steps. Plus GLH has a good point, you can always get your money back out of a Cig for the most part. |

Re: 35 Café Ride & Handling.
Hey Cignificant, what did that paint job cost you? If you don't mind me asking. :drink: It's SWEEEET!
|
Re: 35 Café Ride & Handling.
I worked a deal with a friend that owns a paint shop, so I can't give you an exact cost. But he told me "retail" value would be between $20K and $23K. His cost on paint and supplies alone was around $3k.
