24' Fire Fox

Hey guys,
Are there any 24' Firefox Cigs for sale?
I am in my 5th performance style boat now, and none compares to my old 1978 28ss... I loved that boat just didn't want a twin engine any longer.
I saw a 24' Cig a couple of years back in the mid-west but it was out of my price range at the time.
Two boats later, I'm kicking myself a little...

Pat, I know its not a 24, but about 6 or so months ago there was a sweet 27 Squadron for sale in Huntington. It looked lean and mean.

Storm, I do like the 24' better.
KN, That's the one I should have bought 2 years ago. I think it has been sold.
Thanks,

Here's a interior shot of one. Look at that custom grab rail, slightly radiused to match the dash.

Pat, There is a 28 for sale in Litchfield, Ct. I saw it on the side of the road on a trailer. It needs to be restored but a great project boat. I just drove by but was goning to have someone stop and look at it for me.

Pat,

I'd keep an eye out for any of the 24' or 27' Cigs or Cig Squadrons. From what I've seen the 24 firefox takes just as much power to run fast as the 27, so it depends on whether you need the extra length for the larger water or not. Expect to pay a lot for the age and style of the boat, because they are so rare. They're not a dime a dozen like the 28ss, which are quite plentiful these days (in the Spring). They seem hard to sell because of how impractical they are compared to more modern designs with better cabin access and speed. A nice example of the 27 was for sale here on the chesepeake Bay for 2+ years at 20k before it finally sold. I've only ever seen one Firefox here in the last 20 years.

Did you buy your '27 from Kenny Boss? If so, it's my old '27. Nice boat!

Squadron XII was a co. Don started while he was not with cig.

Re: 24' Fire Fox

True, but when Don Aronow bought Cigarette back from Harold Halter, he rolled Squadron 12 into Cigarette. My old 27 Squadron was titled as a Cigarette. I believe I have some early 80's Cigarette literature with the Squadrons included.

Re: 24' Fire Fox

Our title just says 24 Cigarette,I guess it could be a Squadron,it has orig Cig parts all over it.

The 24 foot Cigarette and the 24 foot Banana Boat came from the same mold. If you are having no luck finding a Fire Fox you may be able to pick up a Banana.

Take a look at our photo section for some more history on this.

My 27 was in NC for the 2003 season, NY for 1999 - 2002, and Florida 1999 - 1981.

I had the excalibur 24, and that pic clearcut3 is the same hull. They have a 7' beam, 24 degree bottom, but the bow entry is not nearly as sharp as the cigarettes and donzi's of the same era, and boy you feel it! The molds went to monza, and was used by someone else in the late 90's, and I just saw a brand new one for sale near me built by "Cobra" - It is the EXACT same hull as the old excalibur.

And yes, Squadron was technically a seperate co. for less than a year, having a hin that starts with XEX. But both Cigarette and the insurance co's consider them all to be "Cigarettes". The timeline is even outlined in the latest Cigarette brochures....

Whirlwind, beautiful boat !! I think I saw some pic of your dash somewhere,--- I've got the Gauge pods like yours sitting in my garage and was thinking of eliminating dash panel that was added to my boat in favor of running those across the dash, (painted white because of the salt water here). Thought it would be a nice retro touch,a nd totally different from what else is out there (I used to see those pods on all the drag boats in powerboat magazine as a kid) Good luck with yours............

There was a 24' Cig/Squadron, but only from '81 - '84.
