Prop Size/Pitch on Tiger TS
 

I am new to the forum but have been looking at it for the past few months. I am presently considering purchase of a 42TS. I've been playing with some prop and speed calculations and wonder what size and pitch props members have had the best results with on a 42TS with 575's and XR's.

Looking forward to any responses. This is a great site and I've enjoyed it tremendously in the month since I found it.

I have 01 Tiger TS w/ 575's Innovation upgraded to 680 hp and XR drives, 32 pitch 4 blade bravo ones. My experience is that the four blades do not have enough bite to get on plane easily. The XR's work to hard and I just destroyed one last week. Innovation is going to experiment with 5 star Hydros and Herrings. We'll see what happens.

Moved from PA to Sarasota 5 months ago.

Thanks for the reply. I'd be interested to know what their experince is with the 5 blades.

I know the props that come stock are 4 blade, 30 pitch, 15 1/4". However, I am interested to know if any members have a better experience with other props. I'm looking for the best "all around prop".....not too hard out of the hole, good mid-range "bite" and top speed.

Also, as a side note, how many hours did yu have on the XR until it blew - on the 525 and the new 680's?

Call Phil at Lipship Marine he has a lot of experience propping those rigs.

As for XR's I have had some problem this summer also but it was due to my failure to torque the bolts on the topcap. I now have the torque wrench and verify the four bolts every time i put in the water. Specially the left turning drive, it uses the top gear that put pressure on the cap.

I have around 650HP per mills and I now baby it to the max coming on plane no more than 2700-3000 rpm till on plane.

Mine is a non-step and I have Bravo's Four blade labbed worked by Throttle-up 30" I see 80mph in fresh water. Sorry it is not exactlly the information your looking for but it can't hurt!

Joe,

You need to rock that boat back and forth to get it to plane. This is usually necessary when you have a full tank. Make sure your drive units are all of the way down be fore you take off.

You can try dropping you tabs 3/4 of the way down to help you get up easier, but you should try rocking her first. feather it to 4300 and back to 3800 rpm's while rocking. You gotta get some air under theose steps. I tried a set of 30P 4 blade, but Ilost alot of top end. It did get up nicer...


Let me know how the 5 bladers worked. I also have a brand new set of Bravo 1" Spacers new in the box

Why not use the props on the boat when you buy it?
