I have been past my breaking point many times, it`s worse when I`m the one who has to do ALL the work too . Somehow I keep going. Sorry to hear about your trouble. You like me are in way too deep, there`s only one way to go and that`s forward.

I feel like selling mine all the time..... Then the wife smacks me around and tells me to go fix our boat lol

I can't understand it, and I'm not blaming anyone until we see what exactly the issue is.

"If I only would've known, what I do know now." (I would have never touched this boat with a ten foot pole).

I hate to say it but all the stuff I see and here on here and with people I know like frick it really makes me appreciate my stock 500efi power a little more each day. Not that I haven't had my issues but still it hurts to here stuff like this.

Id rather wrench on a pair of 1000's every weekend and be able to run 100 in an old Top Gun than go 69 MPH wide open with 500 EFI's any day of the week! The extra work and effort pays off when you blow by the stock boats like they are in reverse....even if its only running for an hour at a clip!

Frick , my record for annual running time for the past three years is 22 minutes . This year after new alum heads and a complete short block rebuild the year before I figured there were no more parts to break as I had replaced pretty much everything but the blocks cranks and intakes . This year after 22 minutes of outstanding performance broke the push rod guide plate on the number 2 intake valve on the port motor . Like Dan I am the cheif bottle washer . But I am not going to let that tub beat me . I will figure out what went wrong . If all goes well I'm shooting for a whole hour next summer . I don't want to set my sights too high .

I'm ready to pull the drain plugs on this thing and let her sink. It was a sh!tty weekend all around, but that was the icing on the cake.

We probably have 30 minutes or less on this boat. UNBELIEVABLE!

Those trans can make a clanking noise at low idle. Or your damper plate busted. What kind of plate do you have

frickstyle 08-25-2015 11:41 AM

Yes, I am hoping damper plate/engine plate/flexplate (whatever you call it) maybe loose/busted. Honestly sounded like the drive shaft banging around, but all felt good, spun by hand in nuetral, and we still had forward movement on that engine in gear, shifted fine in and out of gear. We'll know more tonight.

MILD THUNDER 08-25-2015 12:01 PM

Frick, do you have the heavy duty plates or the weaker ones from like a trs setup?

frickstyle 08-25-2015 12:23 PM

As far as engine plates, like mounts? They are the full offshore style plates front and rear.

If you are talking about damper plate, I would have to check with Dean, I know we upgraded them after changing the drive setup.
