Re: Check out how clean this flatdeck is!!
They are VERY heavy, our '83 had 482s and I don't think it went 60mph. Nice looking though!

I can't speak for the rest of the flat-deck boats but my 1986 with #3A's and 625hp supercharged 509's will run 70+ in smooth water. Maybe better on the right water with the right driver, which ain't me.
That is a great-looking boat and well worth the price. Just my opinion though.. |
Re: Check out how clean this flatdeck is!!
Nice boat Crazyhorse, I remember the ad from when it was for sale. Looked real good and well rigged.
|
Re: Check out how clean this flatdeck is!!
Nice, take the arch off though and I think it would look alot better.
|
Re: Check out how clean this flatdeck is!!
You have to hand it to Don Aronow. The 38 was/is such a timeless design. It's almost like the Porsche 911 in that the today's 38 Cigarettes are identifiable all the way back to the original design. The early to mid-80's 38-footers are a 20-year old design! Other than the top deck and interior the hull has stayed the same all those years through the early 2000 non-step boats.

Re: Check out how clean this flatdeck is!!
Thanks C.O. I've had several negative comments about the arch but it serves the purpose of holding the radar antenna. Otherwise it wouldn't be on the boat.
|
Re: Check out how clean this flatdeck is!!
I could'nt disagree more that arch looks awsome,Just like a classic Corvette or Muscle car you would'nt change the wheels for some modern look. Keep the arch, it brings to mind that era of time. Sweet boat Crazy.

Re: Check out how clean this flatdeck is!!
Thanks. It's treated me very well. It's always brought me home with both engines running.

Re: Check out how clean this flatdeck is!!
I love that boat !!
|
Re: Check out how clean this flatdeck is!!
Doesnt look bad at all, I just dont prefer them, but as long as it gets the job done it looks clean still and not bad at all!

Re: Check out how clean this flatdeck is!!
Crazyhorse that a sweet boat, love the upgrades!!!!!
|
Re: Check out how clean this flatdeck is!!
I can't take credit for the modifications. I bought the boat just the way you see it, although we've done some upholstery work in the cabin and cockpit. And the boat name was added after I bought it.

Re: Check out how clean this flatdeck is!!
I like it, simple but makes a statement!!

Re: Check out how clean this flatdeck is!!
mkramer, do you ever do the Put-in-Bay stuff? I've never been there but we plan on it this coming summer. Assuming we're going to have a summer.

Re: Check out how clean this flatdeck is!!
My arch was probably an aftermarket add-on and serves the purpose of holding up the radome. If this boat would not have come with radar I would have installed it as I feel it's a very useful tool, especially here in west Michigan. Without radar there's no reason to keep the arch. Just my opinion.

Re: Check out how clean this flatdeck is!!
That picture was taken at Diversey Harbor in Chicago by Mr Cig or his wife during a COPS run to Michigan City, Indiana. We ended up having five 38 flat-deck boats on that run and they were all rafted together on the seawall there. You can find pics here or on the OPB website. I'll post one on this thread if I can find one.
