Information needed on 46 Rough Rider

2 Attachment(s)
Hi Guys,

Looking at buying a 1995, 46 Cig rough rider, has triple 525SC and bravo's.
What are these boats worth nowdays? Anything in particular to look for?

Cheers

James

Nice find.

That could be the ultimate rough water boat. I wouldn't say there is anything different to look for than any other boat. 95 was a good year. They are damn heavy. Those 525's aren't going to push it real fast, but who cares.

It's hard to put a value on them. Those were fairly rare. Not many built compared to the other models and today. What's the condition of it? Has it been updated?

Re: Information needed on 46 Rough Rider

The boat is as it left the factory has done 180hours (original) no updates as far as I can tell. Condition wise I only have photos of it so far, it's an eight hour plane ride away...
Whats sort of speeds would I be looking at? and any idea on an overall weight?

Cheers

James

A guy I know has a 93 w/triple 502s. It weighs 17,000 pounds. I would imagine w/525SC it will run low 60s ?

17,000 lbs!! Ouch that's not exactly a featherweight....

Does anyone have any factory specs on one of these? Eg Gas Capcity, Exact Dimensions (I need to know for shipping)

And finally is it worth $120k?

Yep, 400 gallons X 7 lbs a gallon=2800 lbs in gas! Now and gear and people!

My bad...

It was this ride. The pic of the boat on jacks made me think it was in Europe.

Sweet ride.

Thats alot of weight for those Bravo's though.

Re: Information needed on 46 Rough Rider

At 19,000lbs, I would hope that it would knock most things out of it's way!!

The boat is currently in East Asia, so from a shiping point of view it is much cheaper than from the east coast of the states.

I too agree that it would be right on the limit for Bravo's, I mean the motors alone will stress them somewhat without having to push near on 20k lbs of fibreglass

What are the options for upgrading drives? Do I have to go too something like a SM drive? I don't want to break it everytime out.

Maybe look into those Konrad drives. If you could afford it though, the SSM#3A or 5 would be the way to go.

I would just spend the little extra money on the SSM. Your putting in a tranny anyways and everyone knows what a Speedmaster drive is.

Re: Information needed on 46 Rough Rider

Trannis will be A LOT of work in that engine bay, all three engines pushed forward 10" maybe not the center one but you'll need a new drive-shaft..... Look at the pic generator and more than likely AC in front of each rear engine, mufflers extended....

SSM's or Konrads and trannies will rob to much out of those 525's and your taking $$$ for time, gimbal assemblies, drives , trannies, fiberglass....

Run the bravos and when they blow up put XR's in. First one goes put the XR in the middle, second bravo goes put the XR's port and starboard, third one your done!!! Get a little money back selling the blown Bravos and be careful taking off. Take it really easy taking off. Oh yes check your top cap torque as often as you can specially on the left turning prop.

Just my humble op.

120k is What it would cost me to bring into NZ, By the time you take shipping and Duty/GST at nearly 20% the cost's gets right up there!! (Sorry should have made that clearer) Im so envious of you guys being able to go cross country and just buy a boat. With our exchange rate/distnace form the rest of the world, everything becomes so much more expensive, to give you an idea an old 1990 SeaRay Sundancer 300 with a pair of 200hp Diesels sold for $120,000 NZ at our local marina.... Thats the equvilent of $85k US!!!
