Whipple Charger/Top Gun

Any of you folks have info regarding speed increase for 1994 Top Gun with 502 MPI's with Whipple Charger installation? Gun runs 64 mph now. I will be helping a friend install the new style Whipple chargers and we were hoping to get close to 80 mph. Boat has Bravo drives with side intakes for water. I have seen the pressure side of water pump tapped for intercoolers on other Whipple set ups and question if there will be enough water pressure for the block. Also ....I am thinking labbed 26 Bravo four blade props should work with rpm at 5300-5400. Any info appreciated. Thanks, Steve

My guess for 80 mph i woud bet 28" pitch at least if not 30".

Also if you hit 64 with 830hp at the prop (2x415hp) you'll need 1300hp at the prop to hit 80 mph. That's 650hp at the prop anb about 680hp at the crank, I doubt that whipples will jump your engines 235hp but you'll end up in the high 70's.

Just my humble opinion.
Hope this helps.

I'm getting 78-80 mph with 28 labbed at 5500 rpm with hp500s and Whipple's in a 96 Top Gun

Howard, Are your intercoolers plumbed into the engine water suppy or do you have water pickups in the hull? Thanks for reply, Steve

I would guess that you will need 30 pitch props I am running them on a set of 525sc and I am only running 74.9 gps, 38 ft PQ. Good luck hopefully you can get there. :D

There plumbed in the the engine water supply I did not do the work I would have preferred to run a separate water to the inter-coolers but that's jest me

A friend has a 93 TG w/ 502's and 671 blowers. But he spent 20K (?) on headers and runs #3's. pulls 79.9 on GPS. He also is full of chit but this is what he tells me.

Our 94 topgun had two 502mpi's with prochargers with xr drives. ran 84 on radar gun.

Re: Whipple Charger/Top Gun

The best we have seen is 83mph at 5400 rpms on my gps with 26 pitch props, 1997 Kevlar hull, stock SC600s 502s with 420 blowers 5lbs of boost and stock bravo 1s.

We now have 800hp per side and expect to see some low 90s with 30 pitch props , I think 80s with whipples in a Gun may be a stretch unless the hull is carbon fiber!
I could be wrong!
