Anyone know this 1994 Top Gun
 

I'm going to look at this boat and was wondering if anybody know anything about it. I guess it's from Ohio and was traded in on something else in Grand Haven, MI. Thanks for any info.

If you do go and see it please PM me with your opinion of the boats condition. I'm driving to Chicago in mid March and would stop and look at it then if it is still on the market. I talked to the seller or dealer ( never got it clear what he was ) and he implied it is a clean boat and previously owner had considerable money and seldom used the boat.

The only thing that I know about it is that it's been for sale on BoatTrader for a very Loooooong time, but I have kow idea as to why. Good luck!!

Check the transom closely on the 94 TG. Cig had a lot of probs. It's worth it to pull an exhaust tube to check for rot.

dlbCheckmate, I did go look at the boat. It needed alot more work than I thought.

Unleashed, was it just 1994's that were pron to having issues or did other years have them to?

Don't know about other than the 94's, but Phil Lip advised me that mine which I traded in on a TS was rotten, and he had seen others in my range and advised Gig.

So how did the transom rot ? Bad construction or owner abuse error ?

I'm starting to wonder about these early to mid 90's top guns. In another thread someone also suggests there was a lay-up problem with some of the kevlar,carbon hulls also.

Anyone care to suggest what the construction problems were at cigarette ?

I had a 1994 Cigarette and there was absolutely no problems with the transom what so ever.

We Have A 92 (staggered) 90 Mph Edition And The Hull Is Solid As Hell And So Is The Transom

I changed Drives and tested the Transom. Hard, and all sealed up.

I looked at it, and it has some blistering and some stress cracks. Some stress cracks up by bow hook and also on port side by windscreen. Probably has 60 or so blisters belowe water line. Nice power, nice cockpit interior other than sun pad. But it is a repossessed boat, so no sea trial or anything, and no trailer. Nice looking boat from 20 feet , but probably more trouble than it is worth.

Can't tell for sure.
But I think that Nauti Kitty might know the specs and history on this one.
Looks similar to one that a friend of his sold a few years back.

I think the biggest problems with the transom's rotting no matter what year you have is someone will go in and modify the opening for the exhaust and not seal it up.

Hi Rob, hope all is well.

I don't know this boat but I think Tom Gentry is selling it. It looks like my friends but that is in florida and just sold. The only problems I ever heard about are rotted transom from bad sealing on the pipes and drives. Good survey will find that problem. Good luck. NK

cigarette didn`t seal anything in my transom it is a 1994 never stayed in the water (hoist). we figured why the engines and transoms are out. may as well have the glass guy west system the entire bilge area including all of the exhaust holes and transom holes. another thing is to get rid of the pitot tube for the speedo the rubber hose likes to rot and crack right as it bends into the transom then you basically have a garden hose running inside your transom. my theory is the less holes the better. my 2 cents
