Another outdrive question!
Well, we have decided to go with Max Machine Worx aluminum billet lowers as well as thier beefed up uppers.
We now have 750 to 825 hp per pulley size vrs our stock SC 600s in our 97 Kevlar Gun with half cabin. We are going with a 1.35 ratio vrs our stock 1.5 ratio and our drives will be 2"s shorter. My question is, do any of you guy's have a similar combo as to prop size, figuring 5800 to 6000 max rpm red line? We are leaning towards a 30 or 32 pitch base line size with the new 1.35 ratio! And also with or drives now 2"s shorter should we expect the slow cruise 35 to 40 mph porpoising to be worse or the same ! Thanks! Glen |
Re: Another outdrive question!
Glen, I think the drives on your boat were 1.36 not 1.50.

Re: Another outdrive question!
Jeff,
Thanks for the info, I will let my boat motor guy's at Diamond performance know the ratio, I don't want to sell those lowers and give out an incorrect ratio. Just a quick note of thanks for selling me a real solid boat, in less than three months we put over 90 hrs on her including a week on the ocean in Florida and she never missed a beat. As you said, she ran hot at speed and after switching to Mobil 1 we kept the oil temp on our starboard motor down bellow 245 vrs 270+. When we pulled the motors down for build ups there was know damage to either mill, can't wait till spring! Glen |
Re: Another outdrive question!
Glen, Glad you are happy with the boat. We had a lot of fun with it. And to think I thought boating season was over for the year when I sold it. I bought another one last month, 01 twin step gun. Just couldn't go the center console route yet. Maybe next year.
