Gentlemen,
The guy owns a Velocity. I'm sure he is no stranger to cracks.

Not to stop all of this banter. However, getting back on track here.....

I was looking for a Cafe Racer for over a year. A good friend of mine had a '93 that was flawless and if the timing was right I would've picked it up when he bought his T/S Gun. But I didn' t and I kept looking for a Cafe.

I don't know what your price range is but it sounds like you are looking to spend somwhere between 65k to 80k. The things I knew I wanted was this:

1) the newer cabin...made after 1990 models. This layout was much more user friendly w/a small table, a head, and most importantly the large built in cooler!!

2) If possible an updated cockpit. This includes the head rest in the seats and a white dash. Alot of the early 90's Cafe's had black dashes and all had the low profile seats until '92 or 93 when they started putting them in.

3) Bravos. This is an ongoing debate and I know alot of people on here love TRS's but I had an issue with buying a boat with discontinued drives.

4) Turn key power. No blowers or older engines. I wanted newer 502's, HP500's or EFI 500's if possible.

I ended up speaking with Phil and he eventually talked me out of a Cafe and put me into a T/G for the same money I was looking at spending on a Cafe.

The deals are out there. Be patient and look around. There is a lot to be said for a late 80's cafe that has been totally updated like the 88 that is currently in the classifieds with that killer paint scheme! Good price and looks like a new boat. Good luck with the search! And just remember as soon as you start pimpin' the new Cig around you're going to forget about any other boat you have!! :drink:
