I have a 1980 28SS with twin 350's / TRS and it weights around 7,000 lbs. It's a sold/heavy boat but nothing rides like it in the rough!

I have a 1975 28SS with 350's and TRS drives it scaled on the trailer with 1/4 fuel at 8240 lbs. solid and heavy and loves to play in the rough stuff. Can't wait till spring

i also have a 76 28SS.....first time i drove the boat was in some bad water right before before a storm. Previously had a baja 265. Nothing alike!

According to the NADA book, the boat weighs 4800# dry.

I have a sales book from the 70's that puts it at net weight 5000lbs. (approx.) Then add everything else on and it has to weigh in at 7500lbs.

That sounds about right. I have a 28 Open that is converted to a single and tips the scales at 6,000 lbs.

My 28 had twin 350 420 hp each and topped out at around 74 MPH. Best boat I ever owned. They just don't make them like the 28 SS. :D

Sean,

If you are talking about the white / blue and burgundy striped 28 - a guy bought it on the Chesapeake Bay MD - so it's back where I used it. If you are talking about the red & white "FIRST CLASS" 28 - I saw it for sale in Lake Tahoe.

I miss both those boats - don't have any boat currently. What are you running these days?

yeah...first class...its for sale on the left coast...

i own a cafe racer...but that doesn't mean i'm boating.... :(

had some engine woes last summer and wrapped the boat up...it is still shrinkwrapped and sitting in my yard...too much other stuff going on right now to bother with it... maybe next year...
