Thanks stormrider, that has been a question i could never seem to get an answer to till now.Did the 25 magnum come from this design also with a little freeboard added with the extra sheer. Also do you know who came first with the 24 , Pantera or excalibur.I went to the Miami show in 76 and Pantera ,p-d ,Jaws, Excalibur all had the same hulled 24.

I may stand to be corrected but it is my understanding that IMP got the 25 after Magnum had built about 35 (1971-1975)
The 25 Magnum is actually 25'4" LOA and 8' beam. It not even remotely the same as the Pantera, Excalaibur, Etc. It is sporty and yet has a spacious cockpit (huge by any comparable standards). The engine compartment is to die for.

Back in 1975 I raced this 1974 Cheetah 24', they already had a copy on the West Coast by then. By 1976 here is another West Coast company, Panther Marine that had a copy. How many copy's are out there ??????? But not a 25' Magnum copy.

Here is another 24' copy, this is the old race boat SMIDGEN TOO a 24' Cobra made in Florida in 1975. Im restoring this boat now, but what is unique about this 7' beam old school copy is that it has twin 302 Holman Moody Ford's. Hope to have this one done next year.

prior to holman moody was eaton interceptor.after h/m was crusader.then the merc 280 pkge took over.h/m also offered 351 windsor.same bolt pattern as 289/302.in 1969 302 h/m was the large engine option over the 165s.mid to late 60s holman moody with the alumn. exhaust was in all the sport boats.raw pump ran off crank.pretty cool.marine power was used mid early 70s.[built by chris craft].350 sbc.

I know from some experience around the 24 Excaliber that none will run with the 25 Magnum in heavy water. Although a little biased, nothing short of the the 27 is in the same class as the 25. Unfortunately, I have to part with mine in the next month or two.

Thanks" el indio for the info. Dose anyone know any information on this Cobra boat company [Aluiminum Marine Concepts] that built this 24' copy, they were located in Benton LA ?

h20boater i think i use to see that cobra on Lake Macatawa in the late 70's.I remember it being about the fastsest boat around for a while. There was a red single engine Cobra that ran around Macatawa also.
