HORBA Forum
Many members of the Historic Offshore Race Boat Association have asked that we start a forum.
We are not set up to do that, but with this new section of OSO, maybe we could use this space and encourage our members to join over here at OSO, and have a forum specifically about the old race boats.

Some of our members have already restored their old race boats and the list is growing daily...maybe they would post their boats.
Here are some for now.

Thanks Mark....now explain to the folks who don't know, what those pictures are.
Why did we use staggered engines and what was the fuel capacity of the old race boats?
My boat, the Top Banana, carried 510 gallons of fuel between saddle tanks on either side of the engines and tanks located just ahead of the dash area.
We shifted fuel back and forth as we needed different weight distribution during the race and at the end of the race, we would pump over the side any extra, trying to get the boat as light as possible.
This forum can be used to answer questions from people that never saw an open ocean race or some of the equipment used back then.

My Sutphen Race Boat was built to be a racer. It has two tanks 1 under the floor & 1 in the cabin. There are pumps that switch the fuel in case you need more weight forward or aft.
