I was part of Team Scarab in SoCal off and on for over 10
years in the R&D and Racing, During that time I was Involved
with a number of Scarab Race boats.
The 38ft Mike Reagen Boat The 43ft Don Johnson boat the
46ft Chuck Norris boat and a number of other Xrace boats
The Reagen 38 was sold to the (Navy) and as far as I know
still is, The Don Johnson boat was sold to a old friend of LS
and was in SoCal for a number of years then sold to a
Wellcraft dealer North of St. Louis.
The Chuck Norris 46 was converted for the owners of
Pussers Rum and went to the Island of TORTOLA in the BVI
and was used to run between the Pussers stores in the
Islands.
I still have some posters and decals and a ton of old photos
Email me if anyone is interested.
The Reagen boat was used in a number of Special projects
with the navy which I was involved with, Remote Controlled
to test ship and port defenses, Train Navy Divers as Hi-Performance Boat Operators, Support boat for Navy divers
at the Offshore Islands in the Ventura Ca.
I got to talk to Michael in San Diego and he was very happy
his old boat was being used in programs for the Navy.

The boat Albert was killed in is the boat I raced in Saint Augustine to qualify it for the world championships in Key West, I think an Austrailian guy??????????? bought it. Charlie Strang personally asked me to run and evaluate the boat, to decide if it was the boat or the driver that killed the two guys. I drove over to Stuart test base, met Larry Smith, and my friend Kerry Marsh who had driven with Eddie Trotta a couple times. Anyway the boat was in the water ready to go, Larry, Kerry driving and me on sticks went for a ride, the ocean was really nasty and windy, one thing about that boat is that it accelerated stronger than any boat I had been in to date. I ran the boat really hard close to 90mph, we tripped it once Larry smashed his elbow into the deck, scared us all a little, so we got back in it somemore to make sure the boat was OK. next we ran the boat in the St. Aug. race, we really didn`t push it ran third most of the day, running in open class. Same race Rocky A. destroyed the flap jack and got all busted up again. I think we finished third and qualified the boat for the worlds. Bottom line, the boat was OK it was like all race stuff, handle with care. Anybody have a race program from that race, I think I was listed as driver of record?????? also would be cool to see some pix. hint hint!!!!!!!!

I meant to add: that the Scarab Dave Albert had is nothing to do with the Reagen projects. Dave bought that boat direct from Larry Smith, super light all Kevlar and worked a deal with Charlie Strang by way of Larry Smith to run the V-8 outboards. I was told that those motors were putting out between 470 and 500 hp. Top speed I saw was 93 mph, hanging on for your life, waiting for the major Chine walk to start. That boat would accelerate from 40 to 90 faster than any boat I had been in to that date, The rest of the story is as written.

Post what you have. The outboard Scarabs are rarer than hens teeth.
