This is my idea of what a 28 Cig should look like......anyone else agree?

Simple paint scheme
Tall blue windsheild
Tall life-line
Small old school decal above gunwale
Volvo speedmasters

Back in 1974 or 1975, there was a 28' called "Orange Crate" that was kept in Ventnor, NJ (on a lift). That was one of the best 28's in that day. Whatever happened to that boat?

Great looking 28.

Ok, it was 30 years ago, and I know we've learned alot since then.

What would the EZ-LOADER trailer do to the hull??
Could you actually (legally) tow that boat with the Caddy back then??

Not to take away from the thread, it is an absolutely beautiful boat.

The hull is well supported with all those rollers ,that was an expensive trailer back in the day.My dad used to pull a 23 foot slickcraft with a 70 chrysler town and country wagon,440 with dual 4 barrels and dual exhaust. We would go to Florida from Michigan twice a year, boat full of luggage and a car with 8 kids hopping around like wild indians while my dad is driving 80mph,never an accident.Ahh the good old days. Now adays we would all be seatbelted into a stretched Freightliner doing 60 mph and only in the daylight. :D

there is a boat exactly like that on a canal just down from my inlaws same paint and same outdrives....The guy does not take care of it .......It is always dirty and he never uses it..........Could be the same boat but i am sure they made more than onre in that color

Re: Coolest 28 Cig ever.......

The only thing the EZ loader trailer did for me was to put alot of black marks on the bottom of the boat. Where I lived in Bricktown NJ we always used a travel lift to put the boat in the water. I never dipped the trailer.

No one ever bothered me towing with the caddy. I towed a 28 Cigarette to the first Plymouth 160 race with that Caddy from NJ to Mass. No problem.

That 28 Cigarette was a 1976 and a special color for our countrys 200 birthday......Red white & blue...

Hi the boat was sold and ended up with a pinhole in one cylinder on the starboard engine as I remember. I worked at All Seasons Marina and worked on it quite a bit. I redid the bad engine. They were small blocks with all the good internals and Edelbrock street tunnel rams with 2 Holly's on each one.The boat ended up at Rolly Marine in Fort Lauderdale. I went with to keep driver company and he flew me back home. Years later I raced Jersey Speed Skiffs with a friend in Jersey bays. Boat was a Bud Bender hull and black & white. Called "Brute Force"
