Re: 39 squadron
A Year ago there was a white and blue Squadron XII 39 from 1981 bare hull for sale in England called Shogun Star.
Any info on that one it was the #8 hull of 1981 ? No longer listed at Yacht World. It´s a stretch of a 35 Cig I believe as the cabin looks identical to one. The lack of interior space was kinda turn off but then again it would´ve been a great old school racer project. |

Re: 39 squadron
The one for sale a year ago had no raised gunnels or raised deck it was totally flat as in a 35 mistress, the wents yours had on the deck was on this one below the deckline in the hull.
Also the "Apache" has the engine bay raised where as this one was totally flat there too. That kinda turnde me off although it looked really sharp as the height in the engine room was quite low. Look for yourself: http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=4414812 PS Why do people sell Squadrons as Cigarettes or put Cig Decals on them , Squadron is way cooler in my eyes ??? |

Re: 39 squadron
Mikey, i think some of the latter XII were built w/ the Cig vins.
Plus it does help w/ marketing. but i do agree that knowing its a SQXII is extremely cool. The one by me is slick. |
Re: 39 squadron
I understand the marketing point BUT...then again...Aronow using CRT VINs on XEX boats...HMMMM.....
Look at the pictures I´ve linked...darn I´m between many decisions regarding what boat to look into. That SQXII 39 has haunted my mind....the true forefather of "Apache" PS go someday and check what Dry Martini´s prefix is...at least on 1981 SQXII´s its XEX and did Don Buy Cig back 83 or 82? What about Apaches prefix? |
Re: 39 squadron
jeff marshall of monteray boats had a nice grey 39 pleasure 1982-3..........
|

Re: 39 squadron
That´s honestly a problem...the feds surely would´ve liked to look into the bookkeeping of the companies at least.
If the History of the boat isn´t known by the current owner he´d go with the prefix and hoopla it´s a Cig. Exporting a Squadron with a CRT prefix or vice versa would certainly be a problem if not impossible considering US Customs...even taking one abroad (Mexico/Canada) for a Holiday would end up in a disaster or ?? |
Re: 39 squadron
not realy i bought my in canada and had no problems
|
Re: 39 squadron
When Aronow repurchased Cigarette, he continued producing the 27 as a CRT boat, not an XEX. He titled them as Cigarettes- Squadron XXII was essentially a model designation.
|
Re: 39 squadron
Howabout the Cigarette 39 Squadron then...did it come before or after the buying of Cigarette?
I´ve seen a Cig ad for a 39 Squadron that looks almost as the 39 XII but the windshield is V-shaped like in the 35 Cig Mistress. |
Re: 39 squadron
Here´s the ad...was this model in the lineup before the Sale of Cig 1979 or after Dons backbuy of 1982/3?
Here the windshield is like in the Mistress but the pleasure version of SquadronXII 39 has a straight Deflector like in a 35 Awesome http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=4511416 |
OK, finally went and checked out what dry martini is marked...
XEX. How'd these boat run compared to the TG's of the day. |
Thanx for your effort.
According to Bobby Saccenti XII´s rode harder because of the wider strakes (3/4 of an inch?) they have compared to a Cig (Racing of course)? * I´ve always thought they were identical hulls... A pleasure boater never finds the diffrence I´d say. |
