Here's a very old picture of my two favorite Sutphens. I think they were taken in 1977 in New Jersey. Way cool old school!

LOL!

There were quite a few Great Adventure boats. The first was a Cig 28SS (1976), then a Mirage 29 (1977?), then the blue Sutphen (1978), then a Black Viper (1980). I don't know exactly what Bill did in the early 80s for racing but in 1988 he built the Great Adventure we own now and ran it for many years. I'm suprised he let go of it!

As Biggus said, the blue boat hasn't been in the water in 15 or so years. The boat is built for small blocks and big blocks won't fit. The main problem with the blue boat is LS bought it in 1980 and raced it quite a bit. In 1981, at the Miami race, he ran the boat with a buddy and broke the bottom wide open on it. It was repaired but the boat lost 7mph. The boat took a lot of abuse from 1978-1981 and that was including being used as a pleasure boat. It is still LS's favorite boat from the old days. The Sutphen (30/31) is one of the most fun boats out there to run.

Anyone happen to know why Zubaz is rarely brought up. I think it held the most wins ever for a C boat? I know there were some great shots of it flying that used to pop up in mags in the late 80-s early 90's.

This is the Great Adventure we bought last year. LS raced in it when it was new with Bill. LS finally convinced him to sell it to us after he won the 2004 National Championship and started to run the cat he has now.

shame. small blocks and boxes??
was it a 6 person or 5?

Small blocks....No boxes....3 man bolster. TRS.
Before the bottom broke it ran 70mph. I fixed it & all it would run was 63.
It was busted up pretty good. It took a hell of a beating for three years.

i want a play sut and a race sut. everyone likes magic so much, i wanted one to make a 6 man out of and leave magic 3 man. that size is the best, can go out with people or by myself. if you have the persons # id be interested, i would leave it in FL so Jr can wamp on it. rocker the bottom widen the lift strakes. Yours is too much $$. Plus isnt that Jrs race boat?
did it have saddle tanks or a belly tank?

I can't find the # it was so long ago. The boat had tanks below the floor. It also has a rear seat molded in. To put a bolster in the rear would take a bid of doing. Biggus knows where the boat is. He got me the #
