If Don had still been living, he would be turning 80 on March 1st.

We are opening the new Diamond Anchor section on that date...March 1st...... that will feature a lot of never before seen photos of Don and his career in the boating world. Below is a photo of Don in 1945 when he was in the US Merchant Marine.

A big thank you to John Crouse and Michael Aronow for opening up the treasure chest of photo albums from Don's life.

We have already begun sendng out the free video Run Sunward that shows Don andothers racing in the 60's. Thank you for your support of our efforts to keep the history of this great sport alive.

I hope everybody is enjoying seeing Don A. in the "Run Sunward" movie - it's a great early piece of history. Brownie is also on there in his Nova....

If I remember correctly I was in there as well 28` Memco triple outboard #101 boat name Spirit, one of my first race boats I drove for Mercury out of Lake X. You should also see John Stenbach in a 30` wood Cat I think from Formula triple outboard as well, we were running together accross the Gulf Stream when both boats statred comming apart, and we had to drop out of the race, stayed in cat rest of that day trying to keep both boats afloat, next day went to Bimini to haul and patch both boats, we were stuck in Bimini for almost a week until the weather broke, and we could run back to good old Sky way marina on 79th st. AH !!!!! those were the days. rough and tumble, sink or swim. 7XCHAMP

At times I wonder me if the Cigarette 36' had not existed if I would have fallen in love with the offshore equally.
I don't know.
A thing instead I know.
That Don has created the more' beautiful boats that have raced on the seas of the world.
Thanks Don.

There is a whole section in the new Diamond Anchor area that is devoted to only the 36 footer...... and how much impact it had on the sport and on Don's career building the brand...Cigarette.
