28ss windshield
 

I am restoring a 1977 28ss and am tring to find an original metal frame windshield for it. I live in maryland and am not having much luck find anyone to build me one localy, plus I am missing the old frame so I am going by old pictures. I have seen a couple of 28s with fiberglass windshields and I wonder what happened to their originals.If any one has a sugestion Any help would be apreciated, thanks My e-mail is [email protected]

The original company that made the windshields for Cigarette was American Marine....they were in Ft Lauderdale but moved further north....around Pompano or thereabouts.

They threw out all the patterns just 3 years ago as they were getting no new calls for them.

Try a metal shop they might be able to fabricate something up for you.

can you post a pic of what the original looked like? Also, what was the beam of that boat? I have a few pld windshields up in my garage, might get lucky!

Here is a shot of a short one on this 28.

The size varied, you could order any height that you wanted, the northern guys got big ones and the southerners got the cut down ones like this.

The plastic ones were just the low style.

yes, that is the same windshield I am looking for. low profile tinted but with a black frame. those look the best in my opinion. I thought someone might have taken theirs off and glassed it back in. I am looking for a replacement, a roof colapsed on my boat and the old one was destroied. And to make things worse the mechnic lost the old frame. the boat is all costom painted now just waitin on a windshield. any advice would be great. Thanks

you want this one? its not that short, I think its about 12" in the center.

my 77 28ss has the plexiglass windshield which is very short there were several diffrent windshield options u also had the tall one and the short ones which were made out of alumium .

The windshield I am looking for is metal frame,low profile, black with tinted glass. It looks just like the one top banana posted. Any color or finish would work because I will probably get it painted. I will try to post some pics later. Any help is greatly apreciated. thanks
