I tried to save them in their original format only to discover they were the size of a peanut. Then I tried the magic word "zoom" located next to each photo!!

Many thanks Nigel. |
It would cost way more to put that back together then it would ever be worth. Sad. They are a great rough water hull

I remember being lapped by this boat at the 1990 OPT New Orleans race at Lake Pontchartrain....we were plugging along in our stock class O/B 25 Warlock....when those two beautiful sounding Lambo's came up from behind and blew past us. The boat was gorgeous then. I spent a couple of years restoring an Active Cat a few years latter....something I said I'd never do again.....but this boat's got the "it" factor for me....wonder how many Loto's I'd have to win to afford a proper resto on this old girl...??????

If anyone is interested, the owner is a close friend of mine.

I talked to the owner yesterday. It takes Very close to $30,000. He has already turned down $25K. He doesn't NEED to sell it. That is what he told me. He also has an old 38 Sutphen Ex-Raceboat that he is working on. Let me know if you want his number.

chairman
I remember that boat as Chairman of the Board , owned by Nuri Sabuncu in the late 80S . He was a good guy and open class racer .
It was powered by Lambos and according to the chopper jockeys fastest in class . ( and they know ) I hope he is well . |
It was fast - Nuri was always fun to interview too ! Always Mr. Excitement !

Loved the Lambo sound ,,but what were they doing, I never saw Bob and Errol do this with their Couger cat ????
|
I took this shot at Stock Island (in around 95) when the guys were just leaving the marina. I think Nuri (I assume that is him on the right) was probably looking down in the cockpit at something maybe and wasn´t paying attention - next thing you know they run aground on the coral opposite. Doh!!! They are just being dragged off by towrope.
|
I have some footage somewhere of that boat running at 110 taken from a helicopter for one of the ESPN shows. Are we allowed to post such footage on here?? If so I will try and transfer it in the near future onto a digital format. It sure was a beautiful solid performer once upon a time.

Turkish Express
I just happened to be traveling on I-55 north from St louis to Chicago this past week, and saw this boat next to the highway in a small town of Divernon, Ill, just south of Springfield. I'd never heard or seen this boat before so I did a search on here and found this post. I did stop and look, it seems fairly run down. But I bet it screamed in its hey-day. I'd love to see video of that. I've never heard a pair of lambos... would be a sweet resto project.

The owner of the boat is from Rochester NY It sat outside his construction company for a few years with the cover blowing off of it. He owned Nory Construction Co. which was a extremely large company at one time. Now the company is out of business. I heard that the boat at its best was one of the fastest. That boat looked hammered 4 years ago when it was sitting outside all the time.

I know this is a decade old (even more) topic but anyone has a clue as to wherebouts of this beast?
