Would probably cost him more than $25,000, though.....

Mind you, imagine seeing Carlo Bonomi, Richie and Dry Martini together, one more time...

Now that would be something. Which navigator - Dag Pike?

Richie,

The article on HORBA about Dry Martini states that Carlo Bonomy din't suffer losing too kindly...Any stories on that particular point?

Here are two members of the crew of Dry Martini receiving their trophies for winning the 1974 Deauville race, clinching the World Championship in the process. Happy times...

Dry MArtini was always my favorite boat at all the NJ races love the look of the blue staggered engines.
Its it ever going to race again or is it just a poker run boat now?

Top Banana 06-08-2007 11:53 AM

There are several boats that either have been, or in the process of being restored now.

I just found out that one quiet collector has purchased not one but two, famous old race boats and is restoring them now. The values of the real race boats with history will go up just like the old race cars did 10 to 15 years ago.

HORBA hopes to have some actual races in the open ocean in 2008 for these boats.

The old courses are still there, it would be pretty simple to do them again.....Miami to Key West for example.

Stay tuned.......www.historicraceboats.com

I just read the article on HORBA's site - WOW - I was getting chills while reading that.
How cool!
