I was in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin this weekend dropping off my Magnum and my buddy and I got to talking. Anyway.......he says the Mona Lou III was donated to the local Sheriff by Carl Kiekhaefer and is now a rescue boat..........so we went and took pics.......:)

At least it's not rotting in a field.......

This boat won an a$$ load of races.......who's got details?

If this was the 32' with the turbine then it doesn't the MLIII but of the ML II.
Wynne in 1966 drove two identical Maritime, the Thunderbird with a turbine and the Maritime with two Daytonas. Then Kiekhaefer bought the two boats leaving on one the turbine and on the other one it put the his two new MerCruiser. Both the boats become yellow were driven from Odell Lewis in 1967 with the respective names of Mona Lou II and III.
To find they would be also the other two Maritime 32' the Big Broad Jumper of Wishnick and BROWNIE of 1966-67 and the 1967 Merrik Lewis Momma Maritime.

Not the MONA LOU

According to Mel Riggs this unit was one of four that Mr. K purchased...this unit was given to the sea scouts and was never set up for racing. Only two were raced the one by Jim Wynn / Odell Lewis and the other by Bill Wishnick. Bud

The boat pictured is the Mona Lou III.......the guy who showed it to me was the guy who converted it from the race boat.

I posted this back in March 07, here is the compleat ad that I saved from 1969, and my post. Maybe some one can repair this pic, or has a better copy of Businessweek out there ???
Talk about Back In The Day, I found this add for Good Year in a Feb- 8- 1969 Businessweek magazine I thought it was so cool I have kept almost 40 year's. The Bahamas 500, the add say's it took 11 to 13 hour's to run talk about Endurance !!! Slamming through heavy seas at 65mph for 500 miles some drivers were knocked unconscious, others Hospitalized !!!!!

Marco, a minor correction. Mr. K didn't buy the Daytona/Maritime. Bill W. did. In 1966, Wynne raced the infamous "Ghost Rider" and went undefeated.

Right BROWNIE! I'm just corrected it in the post of 1965Thunderbird.
You was with Wishnick aboard of Big Broad Jump. Please tell to us your memoirs about!
Do you know where is now the boat?
Marco
