A friend in the body shop business is buying a 1979 39 foot sutphen race boat named "bad frog". Its painted green,has twin 510 innovation bbc's with stellings headers w/twin 4bbls,#4 drives on boxes,3 man bolster set-up,race hatches. It sits on a dually gooseneck myco trailer. He's buying it to clean up and sell,he's giving me the first shot at buying it but its not really the kinda boat I want to upgrade to but I'm still going to take a hard look at it once he has it in his possesion. I posted a thread in GD and was refered to the sutphen section where I was told there was some info on it but couldn't find any reference to it. Assuming the motors are 600hp what kind of speeds would it run? Does anyone know when it was raced and who owned it? I was told it was ran from 79 to 81 then put away for years then re-furbised but the dual 4bbls date it back to the 80's if you were asking me. The motors were supposedly re-done in late 90's by innovation and "other" work was supposedly done to it in last few years to return it to running condition but the details are sketchy. What would it weigh,how fast would it go If I built a twin to my current motor (1057hp on pump gas,1115 hp on race/pump mix) and dropped them in it.I have been thinking about upgrading to a bigger boat BUT A full cockpit and cabin are on my list of prioritys plus I have a 06 3/4 ton duramax and don't really want to buy a dually or bigger truck to pull it.Looking for info,if anything maybe just to help him find out its history,Smitty

Engines definately look dated other then the msd boxes. Any idea what the boat would be worth assuming the transom/stringers aren't rotted and are still solid and everything runs/works,Smitty
