Just got the V- drives, rudder and one prop strut today.
I feel like I just hit the lottery , the chances of these still being around after their removal in the early 80's seems pretty remote but here they are!! A real big thanks to Mike Chodack !!!!!!!! |
Jeff
I went to Sonny's website and got his #, I will try to call him tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up!! Any pictures of the transmisions or drives would be greatly appreciated !!!!!!!!!!! Any other pictures would be greatly appreciated also!!!! My email is [email protected] Thanks again!! |
I have finally scanned the slides my father took.
I have posted a few on Donzi.net http://www.donzi.net/forums/showthre...rd-Gas-Turbine I can email the rest of them to someone. I would really like them to be posted online here or somewhere. I can not post pictures here. If someone can shoot me a message and I will send them The Engines are ST6 versions of a PT6 The most comprehensive article on the boat is in a 1966 copy of "BeeHive" a United Aircraft company publication. there is a little information on this website http://www.pt6nation.com/en/articles...olourful-past/ This boat used Free turbines. The props did not have a mechanical connection to the prop shafts. There was also a brake so that the transmissions could be shifted. I hope the pictures are up that show the dual sets of dual controls. |

I just got to see the pictures on the Donzi site, had to wait until my registration was accepted. Those are some really great pictures!!! When I enlarge the pictures they get pretty blurry and I need to see some details. Can you send them to my email and a little larger? thanks!!!!! jim |
How about I send you the original slides. I suspect you would be a good steward of them. my slide scanner is not a good quality device
shoot me an email with address info |
Dave
Thanks for the email!!!! It is 4 in the morning here and I couldn’t sleep so I got on the computer and checked my emails. What a surprise to see your offer to send the originals now I really can’t sleep!! I am honored that you would trust me with these slides, I will keep them safe and secure in my fire proof safe!!! I will get photos of the slides and send you any size photos you would like. Hornet marine logo will be on the side of this boat in honor of your father and the heritage of this boat. I am wanting to go to the OFF meeting in Tavares FL next month. Last meeting I brought along a binder with articles on the boat, to add some original photos will be great!! I hate to ask this ,but you seem to be the only real source of information. Do you have any technical notes or schematics that would help document this boat, any little thing would be great!!! Copy’s would be great if you did not want to send the originals. The story of this boat needs to be preserved for future generations, that is why I am so excited about getting the slides ( any piece of the story helps!!!) Thanks again!! Dave I sent you an email thru hornet marine. |
Get your ass down to Florida. If you have time to go to the Amelia island area, you can meet the person that designed your boat!!!!
